Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games

Meryl Davis and Charlie White

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter games always heralds in the excitement for all the competitive events to come.  Sochi, Russia is in the spotlight this year as the Olympic games begin.  I plan on watching the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games tonight, starting at 5:30PM CST on NBC. I also plan on attending the Puffs Twitter party tonight while I watch to help Puffs celebrate and share in the excitement since Puffs is a proud sponsor of ice skating dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White.  I have loved watching ice skaters since I was a little girl.  If you want to join me, the Puffs Twitter party is tonight, Friday, February 7, from 7:00PM to 8:00PM CST.  It is hosted by Audrey McClelland (@AudreyMcClellan) of Mom Generation.    Just use #PassThePuffs as we all talk about our favorite Olympic moments and what we’re looking forward to in these Olympic Winter Games. I’ll be congratulating Meryl and Charlie for making it to the Olympics.  I can’t wait to see their figure skating!

Meryl and Charlie’s Journey To The Olympics

What I find incredible is that Charlie and Meryl have been ice skating together since they were 8 years old! Wow, that must really help then dance in unison since they know each other so well.  Meryl and Charlie actually the longest-running ice dancing partnership in the history of United States figure skating!  What’s more, is their moms have been going to all their competitions together. How cute is that? I love that their moms have been there for them every step of the way helping them grow into two-time world champions and watching them take home the silver medal at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. As a mom, I know just how much effort that much have taken and I applaud it. I love this little video from Puffs that highlights Meryl and Charlie’s journey to the Olympics and how many times their moms must have had to pick them back up!

Merly’s mom told Today, ““You see the Olympics all your life. You just don’t dream you’ll be there watching your child. It’s just incredible. It’s an incredible experience.”

Winter Olympic athletes train hard and long hours in winter-like conditions, which can be tough on their skin and faces so Puffs makes the perfect sponsor since they help them put their best faces forward.
