Playful Ideas to Keep Your Kid from Getting Bored At Home

Fun Activities for Kids Around the Home

It’s a typical rainy day with your child hanging around indoors getting bored and wants to play something, right? The weather is not going to change but you can definitely do something to save your child from the boredom and have some fun at home. The idea is not to set aside your work to entertain your child but to engage him/her in activities that kids enjoy, while you continue with your work and when free you can join them in the fun. Here are a few fun fun ideas for activities that you can introduce to your child.

Picnic at home:

Even though it is rainy outside, you can still have a picnic at home. Kids love novelties! Make a picnic basket with sandwiches, fruits, board games, a bat and a ball, etc. Create a picnic atmosphere; put a sheet in the living room or the balcony. You can also dress up in picnic clothes like beach wear and simply sit down and enjoy with your child. Eating and playing with your child as you enjoy the beautiful rain will create a bond between the two of you.

Family Photos:

As soon as you are done with household chores sit down with your child and ask about relatives and friends, just to check if he remembers them. Get your collection of the photographs out. Show your child the photos and see if he remembers spending time with his grandparents, uncles and aunties. This activity will help in refreshing your child’s memory and recognizing family and friends and is always fun.

Cleaning up

At times you can ask your child to help you clean up. Though your little one will not be able to clean up your kitchen; he can at least clear up his toys, his wardrobe, his study table, etc. This activity will help your child keep his belongings and his room clean and tidy. It will teach him how to value things. With your child helping clean up his own room, you will have much less work to complete!

Cooking at home: Pick up a kid’s favorite menu like pizzas, sandwiches, pastas, noodles etc. Let your child cook it the way he wants to. Let him experiment with food and learn one of the most important skills of life. This activity will teach him about the different spices, breads, vegetables etc available in the kitchen. It will make your child familiar with the kitchen and also serve you a great deal of help. Cooking at an early age will inspire your child and make them more self-sufficient.

Gardening:

Colorful flowers and beautiful green leafs are very attractive for kids. On a day when your child is getting bored at home you can ask him to help you with gardening. Choose a small patch that can be designed or maintained by your child. Teach your child about nature with this activity. This activity can help you with your work by making your child feel responsible towards the house and take him closer to nature.

Conclusion:

Cutting down on your child’s television hours is important and their are lots of other household activities to keep your child entertained. The above activities will keep your child stay busy and gainfully occupied. A little household activity makes your child aware of the things around him along with teaching him loads about household work.

Great tips. I know that my kids love to help me in the kitchen but they are still pretty young. I’m hoping they continue to enjoy into their teen years as well.

I think I’ll tell the lot of my friends about this great little site just cause I like it . In my opinion I reckon it’s pretty different & just a tiny bit quirky, which to my mind is good. I’ll flag it as a favourite. It’s a shame most blogs aren’t like this one?
