I am excited to tell you about some really great kid-friendly entertainment features from XFINITY today! I have heard about Google Fiber coming to Nashville, so as a resident, I was interested to see some of the differences in what they will be offering. After doing some research, I found that XFINITY features some really great kid-friendly entertainment features that Google Fiber does not have- Kids Zone and Voice Remote from XFINITY. Here is a little more information about that.
XFINITY Kid-Friendly Entertainment Features
Kids usually have a few favorite shows that they love but handing over the remote can be a scary prospect when there are so many crazy things on TV these days! With the X1 operating system from XFINITY, you’ll have access to the Kids Zone a fairly new feature that offers a safe and secure experience for kids to independently explore programming and discover new show or old favorites.
Kids Zone is a special section of X1 designed just for kids that gives them access to explore all programming that has either been flagged by the network or studio as kids programming, or deemed age-appropriate for kids 12 and under by the great folks at Common Sense Media. That is a nice load off every parents mind! Now you don’t have to worry about them flipping to a channel that may show something you’d rather they not see. So with Kids Zone kids can explore live programming, free Xfinity On Demand content, movies and TV shows that are already purchased through the Xfinity Digital Store, as well as any saved programming on our DVR and you can rest assured the content is only for kids!
Another thing I like about Kids Zone is that it blocks the ability to purchase or rent programming. That means they don’t accidentally spend my money or stumble across inappropriate programming. Plus, parents can even filter programming that surfaces within Kids Zone down to specific age-ranges. I really like that. All of these great kid-friendly entertainment options come in a fun interface, designed with kids in mind and it is something that Google Fiber just doesn’t offer.
Voice Remote from XFINITY
Your kids will get a real kick out of this kid-friendly entertainment feature! With the Voice Remote from XFINITY, a recent update, your kids can speak into the remote with phrases, quotes or themes to find progaramming. Something as simple at “Kids Shows” or as “Cartoon Network”. The voice remote is only available on the X1 Entertainment Operating System® with DVR. I bet your kids will love this exclusive feature and you probably will too! Who ever would have thought you could you voice commands to change channels, find shows, get recommendations and more? The future is here! Pretty amazing, right?
XFINITY’s Sports App
XFINITY’s Sports App is not exactly a kid’s feature but it is kid-friendly as my husband and son can get sports stats on the one of a kind app! The XFINITY’s Sports App allows you to see all scores and stats while watching games.
