When I think of men’s summer fashion I think of the surfers in California but not everyone can walk around in swimsuit trunks, flip flops, and sleeveless tank. So, I decided to put together an inspirational outfit for men’s summer fashion. According to the Guardian‘s wrap up of the hottest trends from the summer 2014 fashion shows, “The new word to drop in men’s fashion is ‘athletic’. From Kim Jones at Louis Vuitton to London’s Christopher Shannon and Humberto Leon and Carol Lim at Kenzo, the influence of sportswear looms large.” With that in mind, here is a fun casual outfit for your man that is comfy and fashionable all at once.

One of the most important things to remember about men’s summer fashion is to keep it simple. But simple doesn’t mean throw a pair of whatever is closest to you on! Just like with women’s fashion, it’s important to think about what you are pairing with what.
When it comes to men’s summer fashion I like to opt for chino shorts instead of cargo shorts. Cargo shorts can easily look un-kept and make your man younger–not in a good way. If the man in your life isn’t a fan of the length of chino shorts, you can always find a chino short that is knee length! Chino shorts are also a great choice for men’s summer fashion for a variety of reasons; they are lightweight, neat, and come in an assortment of different colors from bright orange to a gunmetal grey.
Pair your neutral chino shorts with a lightweight t-shirt in a vibrant color or vice versus for the perfect summer ensemble! Colors are a great way to make a simple outfit look put together as well as thought out. Plus, when you go off the beaten trail with different shades, you won’t look like every guy walking down the block! And that is never a bad thing!
When choosing shoes for summer, the material is very important because you don’t want the feet to get too hot. If your feet are hot, the rest of your body is hot. So, opt for a linen shoe; these will be breathable but still stylish. Also, you could go with a stylish flip flop. However, if your man plans on walking on a lot, it might be better to consider a shoe with more support like these rubber soled flat shoes from H&M. And let me just add I love the pop of color inside the shoe! It’s details like these that sell me on products.
I don’t know what it is, but I have always been a fan of bracelets on men. Not so much necklaces, but a unique bracelet is eye-catching and adds a pop of personal style and fashion forward. These wood and metal beads do just that with the variations of shapes, especially the skulls!
Who doesn’t want to walk down the street or ride the local transit listening to their favorite jams with a cool pair of headphones? URBANEARS not only let’s you jam out to your favorite tunes but has a built-in microphone so you can plugin to your smartphone!
As part of men’s summer fashion, you can’t forget the shades. These Ray Ban inspired shades complete the look without the expensive price tag.
