DIY face mists have several benefits. Here is why you may want to try making your own:

  1. Control Over Ingredients – You can avoid synthetic fragrances, preservatives, and harsh chemicals often found in store-bought mists.
  2. Cost-Effective – Homemade face mists are generally cheaper than commercial ones, especially since you can make them in larger quantities.
  3. Fresh & Natural – You can use natural ingredients like rose water, green tea, or essential oils to nourish your skin without additives.
  4. Multi-Purpose – DIY mists can double as toners, setting sprays, or midday refreshers, making them versatile additions to your skincare routine.
  5. Eco-Friendly – Reusing spray bottles and avoiding unnecessary packaging reduces waste and is better for the environment.

You will love the all natural ingredients in this quick spritz DIY cooling face mist recipe. This good homemade facial spray gives your skin a great dewy glow and a boost of hydration.

Supplies/Ingredients Needed To Make A Cooling Face Mist:

  • 2 oz -4 oz fine mist glass spray bottle
  • distilled water
  • Young Living Lavender essential oil
  • Young Living Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil

It’s better to use distilled or filtered water instead of plain tap water in a face mist. This is because tap water may chlorine, fluoride, or hard minerals that can dry out or irritate your skin.

Benefits of Eucalyptus Radiata Essential Oil

  • Gentler than Eucalyptus Globulus – More suitable for sensitive skin.
  • Antibacterial & Purifying – Helps keep the skin clean and fresh.
  • Decongesting & Invigorating – Great for clearing sinuses and boosting energy, making it refreshing for a face mist.
  • Cooling Effect – Provides a soothing sensation, ideal for hot weather or post-workout use.

Benefits of Lavender Essential Oil

  • Calming & Stress-Relieving – Helps reduce anxiety and promote relaxation.
  • Skin-Soothing – Great for calming redness, irritation, and sensitive skin.
  • Hydrating & Balancing – Helps maintain moisture without making the skin too oily or dry.
  • Anti-Inflammatory & Antimicrobial – Supports skin healing and fights acne-causing bacteria.

The combination balances invigoration and relaxation, making the mist perfect for morning wake-ups or evening wind-downs. Both oils support clearer, healthier skin while offering aromatherapy benefits.

Optional Ingredients:

Here a few DIY face mists variation ideas. Instead of distilled water, you can use rose water, witch hazel, or aloe vera juice depending on your skin type. All of those are good for your skin and have different healing properties. Aloe vera is healing and soothing for those with dry skin. Witch hazel is great if you tend to have oily skin. Rose water is safe for those with sensitive skin. In this way you can customize your facial sprays to suit your needs.

How To Make Cooling Spray for Face:

Start by grabbing your supplies and head to the kitchen counter.

Add 15 drops of your Young Living Lavender essential oil and 10 drops of your Young Living Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil. These will add pleasant scents to your face sprays. They also have excellent antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Next, fill the rest of your bottle up with your distilled water. Screw the spray top back on and give a good shake! You’re ready to use your spray.

How to Use Face Mist

  1. Start with Clean Skin – Wash your face with a gentle cleanser before applying face mist.
  2. Shake the Bottle (if needed) – Some mists contain oils or active ingredients that settle. Give it a shake if recommended.
  3. Hold at the Right Distance – Keep the bottle about 8–12 inches (20–30 cm) away from your face.
  4. Close Your Eyes & Spray Evenly – Make sure you close your eyes and mouth before lightly spraying your Face Mist Spray. Mist 2–3 times in a circular motion to lightly cover your face.
  5. Let It Absorb or Pat It In – Allow it to air-dry or gently pat it into your skin for better absorption.
  6. Follow Up with Moisturizer or Serum – If using as part of a skincare routine, apply your next product while your skin is still slightly damp.

This spray can also be applied to shoulders or neck for cooling those areas down. Try it post-workout or outdoor activities – To soothe and freshen up.Please keep out of reach of children and monitor closely if you are letting them use the spray because essential oils can cause a burning sensation if they get into the eyes.

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial for this essential oil face mist. Eucalyptus Radiata and lavender essential oils are a great combination for a DIY face mist because they offer a balance of refreshing clarity and calming relaxation while benefiting the skin.
