I love for my home and car to smell fresh and inviting. However with an active, full house of pets and people that are constantly on the go that isn’t always easy. While candles and air fresheners cover up smells they often cause those of us with sensitivities and allergies a lot of problems. That’s why we use a lot of essential oils and natural products at home these days. It recently occurred to me that I should be using it to make my own Homemade Fabric Freshener and Linen Spray to freshen up our furniture and linens. I experimented and came up with this great fabric freshener and linen spray recipe.  It’s easy and affordable to make!

Easy Homemade Linen Spray And Fabric Freshener Tutorial

Did you know you can make your own fabric fresheners? How to make fabric freshener is surprisingly easy! This DIY linen spray makes such a nice bed sheet freshener spray right before you go to bed. It smells great and relaxes you quickly. Fabric sprays are also great to use on hard-to-wash fabrics, pet bedding in pet areas, throw pillows, and other household fabrics. They can get rid of pesky odors and replace them with fresh, natural scents.

Linen Spray Recipe

DIY Linen Spray Recipe Ingredients:

  • 30 drops of essential oils – use a combination of your choice or just stick to your favorite essential oil
  • 1/2 cup distilled water – (tap water works fine too)
  • 1/4 cup vodka – if you do not want to use vodka you may substitute Witch Hazel, or rubbing alcohol
  • 1/4 tsp real vanilla extract
  • (affiliate link) spray bottle

This fabric freshener recipe will make enough to fill one 6 fl oz spray bottle or three small 2 fl oz spray bottles. I like to use essential oils as my natural fragrance oils. They are all natural and have the properties of the plants from which they were derived. They are thought to be good for you where as synthetic fragrances have can sometimes be dangerous.

How To Make Linen Spray With Fragrance Oils:

You can use this DIY fabric freshener spray as needed on fabrics and linens around the house, in the bathroom, in the laundry, and even in the car! This bed freshener spray is a great way to feel pampered before bed.

You can combine your favorite essential oils for fabric and linen spray in different rooms or for different purposes.  For example, lavender and chamomile mixed with real vanilla is ideal for the bedroom linens to give your sheets a relaxing scent. Peppermint and lemon make a great combination for the kitchen hand towels. You can even use this fabric spray on canvas shoes.

Store your odor eliminator spray with your cleaners out of reach of children.

Homemade Fabric Spray Conclusion

Have fun experimenting with creating your favorite scent for your homemade fabric freshener and linen spray!  It is really great for all homes but especially if you pets and kids!  Do you think you will try this linen spray recipe?

That sounds like a great idea for the car! Hubby is taking the train most days now so the car is just sitting and getting stuffy. I’ll try this out when we give the car a good spring clean!
I do use a couple of drops of essential oil in my laundry – lavender for the sheets, orange or other for the clothes. It’s much nicer than horrid chemical-smelling softeners that trigger allergies and asthma.
    Thanks for the recipe.
