I love a good foot scrub but I also have really started loving a cooling foot mask! I played around with a few different recipes and I think I have landed on a really good one. During this time of the year especially it feels like I am running all over the place getting things together for Thanksgiving and then of course for Christmas. Our feet can really take a beating and often, we forget that it’s nice to treat them every once in awhile too! I think you will really enjoy this DIY foot mask if you are on your feet most of the day as well. This homemade foot mask recipe can be made in just a few minutes with simple ingredients. It feels nice and cooling to your feet and it’s also nourishing!

Cooling Homemade Foot Mask Tutorial

Have you ever tried a foot mask at home? You will love the results of this one. It will moisturize your dry cracked feet as well as help restore circulation for refreshed, energized feet.

All Natural Ingredients and Supplies Needed For Foot Mask DIY Recipe:

  • Small Jar/Cup
  • Spoon
  • Measuring Spoon
  • Aloe Vera Gel
  • Shea Butter (can sub coconut oil but it is not quite as rich and moisturizing)
  • Peppermint essential oil
  • Ecualyptus essential oil
  • Lavender essential oil

I chose to use Aloe Vera Gel because it is rich in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. As Naturally Savvy points out, “Aloe vera also contains bradykinase, an enzyme that helps reduce inflammation when the gel is applied to the skin.”

The shea butter was chosen to help remedy dry feet. It is so great for solving extreme dryness! It is rich in fatty acids that promote natural collagen production and improve the elasticity of the skin so you you will have pretty feet! Additionally, shea butter provides a protective layer on the skin, which helps shield it from environmental damage, including harsh weather conditions and pollutants. Furthermore, shea butter has been used for centuries to treat minor cuts, burns, and insect bites due to its healing properties. It can promote faster healing of skin wounds and reduce scarring.

Peppermint oil was chosen because it is cooling and great for improving blood circulation. As Vivian Lou says, it “increases circulation, stops muscle spasms, and is also a pain reliever.” If you need essential oils, I am a Young Living distributor.

How To Make A Foot Mask:

Grab a clean spot on your kitchen counter with all your supplies. This is a single use aloe vera foot mask diy recipe so you are using a small amount of each ingredient.

Measure out 1 TBSP of aloe vera gel and 1/2 TBSP of shea butter. Stir those together and then add your essential oils. Add 4 drops of Peppermint, 2 drops of Eucalyptus and 2 drops of Lavender. Mix those into your aloe and shea butter. Pop in the fridge for 10 minutes.

How To Apply Foot Mask:

Remove foot mask mixture and give it a stir. Apply a thin coat evenly to feet. Cover the dry skin on the soles of your feet first and then use any left over to cover the tops of your feet as well. This can be done while you soak in the tub or while you just kick your feet up to relax on the couch. You will, of course, need a layer of plastic wrap or plastic bags and a towel to place under your feet if you are going to relax on a piece of furniture.

Leave the cooling mask on the bottoms of your feet for 20-30 minutes. When you are ready to remove the mask, take a warm washcloth and wipe clean. You can rub in the remainder of the butter and essential oils into your feet after most of the mask is rubbed off because it is very moisturizing and good for your skin. This great foot mask will leave you with baby-soft feet!

Benefits Of This Aloe Vera Foot Mask:

Foot masks are used for various reasons, primarily for their benefits in skin care and overall foot health. Here are some reasons why people use foot masks:

  1. Exfoliation: Foot masks often contain exfoliating ingredients like alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) that help remove dead skin cells, leaving the feet smoother and softer.
  2. Moisturization: Many foot masks are packed with moisturizing ingredients like shea butter, aloe vera, and various oils that deeply hydrate and nourish the skin, preventing dryness and cracking.
  3. Callus Reduction: Regular use of foot masks can help reduce the appearance of calluses and rough patches, making the feet feel softer and more comfortable.
  4. Odor Control: Foot masks often contain ingredients that help control odor-causing bacteria, leaving the feet smelling fresh.
  5. Relaxation: Using a foot mask can be a relaxing and pampering experience, providing a spa-like treatment at home.
  6. Improved Appearance: Well-cared-for feet look better, which can boost confidence, especially when wearing open-toed shoes or sandals.
  7. Healthier Skin: By removing dead skin cells and deeply moisturizing, foot masks can promote healthier skin overall, reducing the risk of cracks and infections.

Using a foot mask is a simple and effective way to maintain foot health and improve the look and feel of your feet.

Conclusion

If your feet are need of exfoliation, you might want to do a quick foot soak and use a pumice stone to remove the dead skin cells first. In this way, the homemade moisturizing foot mask can have maximum effect and sink into your feet to provide the most benefits and best results.

It is so nice to sit down and enjoy the relaxing and recharging effect of this simple at home foot mask. Have you ever made a homemade foot mask? You should give this cooling foot mask recipe a try! Do you think you will enjoy this easy way to get softer feet?
