Cute Jellyfish Craft For Preschoolers
Jellyfish crafts can be fun and creative! They’re popular because jellyfish have a unique and beautiful appearance, making them a great inspiration for art projects. Jellyfish come in various colors, shapes, and sizes, allowing for a lot of creative freedom in crafting. You can use different materials and techniques to create a jellyfish that reflects your imagination. Jellyfish crafts can be used as decorations for parties, bedrooms, or underwater-themed events. They add a whimsical and playful touch to any space.
Crafting is a great way for kids of all ages to work on developing their fine motor skills. Little hands need practice guiding the glue stick or squeezing the glue bottle. Drawing the circles for the eyes of the jelly fish crafts is great practice too!
Jellyfish Craft Supplies Needed:
- Paper Bowl or Plastic Bowl (any color)
- Black and White Construction Paper
- Felt (any colors)
- Pen or pencil or black marker
- Scissors
- Tape
- String
- Glue stick or bottle of school glue
Note: Let’s talk about craft supply substitutions. If you don’t have something on the supply list for this easy jellyfish craft, feel free to switch them out.
For example, you can use a paper plate instead of a paper bowl. A jellyfish craft paper plate works just fine if that is all you have. We prefer the extra 3D element of the bowl but both will end up cute jellyfish. In fact, variety can be fun if you are using them for decorations.
If you don’t have the felt fabric that we used for the tendrils, tentacles, or skinny tassels that hang off the underside of the jellyfish body, you can use other creative supplies like pipe cleaners or streamers for this great ocean craft.
How To Craft Jellyfish:
Start by gathering your supplies and heading to the table. Grab your scissors and your felt (this will be used for the jellyfish tentacles). Cut 12-14 1″ strips. They can of course be a little wider if you’d prefer. There’s no right or wrong way to make the tentacles!
After cutting your felt strips, take them one by one and start taping them to the underside of your bowl. This is a great part of the craft to get your child to help with! Once the felt strips are around the whole bowl, it’s time to make the jellyfish eyes!
Grab your pen and construction paper. Draw medium size circles on the white construction paper and a little bit smaller circles on the black construction paper. Glue the white circles and then the black circles on your bowl were you want the eyes to be! Or if you have large googly eyes from the craft store, you can just use those.
Finish your jellyfish by taping a string hanging loop to the top of the jellyfish so that your child can hang it in his/her room. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial for how to make a jellyfish craft.
This jellyfish craft involves using different textures and materials, providing an ocean life sensory experience that can be enjoyable for both kids and adults.
