How To Make A Bird Feeder With Toilet Paper Roll
Start by decorating your rolls. My daughter wanted to use her dot markers and stickers to make her empty toilet paper roll pretty. After she was done decorating the paper rolls, I grabbed the stapler and stapled them together (hot glue or double sided tape would work just fine too). Next, the paper rolls needed a bottom part for the bird food to sit on so I cut out circular pieces from a paper plate that we cold place inside of the paper rolls.
We placed the inserts towards the top so the birds could easily get to their food! For the next step, we added 2 twigs to each side of the feeder so that the birds would have a little something to perch on while eating. If your feeder is close to a part of the tree where the birds could land, that would work as well. I just cut a small hold on either side of ours and taped the twigs to the outside of the feeder.
The last 2 things to do to finish up your feeder is to add a piece of string to hang the feeder by and add some food! We crumbled up some plain chips because this whole project was a spur of the moment inspiration and that is all we had on hand. However, birdseed, of course, would be the best option! A seed or nut butter would work too such as peanut butter, sunflower butter, or almond butter.
Now just use the piece of yarn to hang the homemade bird feeder craft in the back yard and enjoy!
