Monster Paper Plate Craft Halloween Yard Decorations Tutorial
Crafting with kids is a lot of fun. It encourages kids to be imaginative, creative, and active in making something. They learn how things work and that it takes work to create something. It can also be a life long skill that they learn. Crafts can be simple or involved depending on the child’s age and they should be a bit challenging to really fully engage them but not to hard to discourage them. It is also a great idea to display crafts for at least a little while after they are done to show you are proud of their work.
Craft Supplies Needed for Monster Paper Plates:
- Colored Paper Plates (any colors will work)
- Scissors
- Glue (glue sticks work fine or tape would work too)
- White Paper
- Black Marker
- Straws
How to Make Monster Paper Plate Halloween Yard Decorations:
Grab your supplies and find a spot to spread out.
Let your kiddo decide on what color monsters he/she would like to make and set those plates aside.
It’s time to draw the monster eyes and mouths. We sketched out eyes on our white paper and then made the mouth from a black paper black. If you don’t have a black plate, you can definitely use your black marker to draw mouths on your white paper and then cut those out.
I did the cutting and my son did all the gluing!
Once we had assembled our monsters, it was time to attach the straws to the back (this is going to be stuck into the ground so leave a decent amount of the straw sticking out from the bottom. After taping the straws to the back, it’s time to find a place in the yard to decorate! We lined our Paper Plate Monster Halloween Yard Decorations up by our walkway!
