What kind of meat to use for beef stew? For my pressure cooker beef stew meat, I use cubed beef chuck which is full of flavor and tenderizes under high pressure. You can also buy it as chuck roast and cut into large chucks yourself.
Pressure Cooker Beef Stew Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 pounds cubed beef chuck
- 2 Russet potatoes
- 5 carrots
- 1 onion
- 2 diced garlic cloves
- 2 cups of beef stock
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp. A-1 Sauce
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. salt
- t tsp. pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 Tbsp. chopped rosemary
- 3 Tbsp. olive oil
How To Make Beef Stew In An Electric Pressure Cooker:

Dice the onion and add to the diced garlic. Peel and cube the potatoes. Chop the carrots.
Place the flour in a bowl and mix with the paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss the beef cubes in the flour mixture until coated.
Place 2 Tbsp. of oil in the pre-heated pressure cooker set to brown. Once the oil is heated, brown the beef on all sides.
Remove the beef, add 1 Tbsp. oil to pressure cooker. Add onion and garlic, sauté until garlic begins to brown.
Add the browned beef, beef broth, Worcestershire Sauce, A-1 Sauce, rosemary, and bay leaf to the pressure cooker.
Lock the lid on cooker, and set to high for 15 minutes. After the timer goes off, carefully release the steam from the cooker.
Add the carrots and potatoes, set the cooker on high for another 15 minutes. Once the timer goes off, it is ready to serve. The pressure cooking sure does make for tender beef!
I usually serve my Pressure Cooker Beef Stew with a green salad and crusty bread for dipping. A dry red wine is the perfect drink pairing.
To save time, I will chop all the vegetables in advance. I refrigerate the cubed potatoes in water to keep them from turning brown.
