Fall is one of my favorite seasons. Growing up in Northern Michigan and living here all my life has meant having the opportunity to experience the true beauty of fall in a way many parts of the world do not. Soon the air will turn cool and the leaves will turn beautiful shades of yellow, orange, and red. We’ll head to the pumpkin patch and the cider mill with the kids and while pumpkin spice is the flavor of everything this time of year, it’s truly what fall is all about here in Northern Michigan. Whether I’m heading to a friend’s dinner party or out for a friend’s birthday it’s nice to have a gift on hand that fits the season and this Pumpkin Spice Brown Sugar Body Scrub Recipe is the perfect homemade gift to make and take to friends this fall.
Brown Sugar Pumpkin Spice Body Scrub Recipe
Brown sugar body scrub is a popular homemade skincare product known for its exfoliating properties.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Organic Cane Sugar
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup Coconut Oil
- 1/2 TBSP Pumpkin Pie Spice Extract (Here is my affiliate link to it on Amazon)
Sugar acts as a natural exfoliant, removing dead skin cells and promoting smooth skin. The Carrier Oil provides moisture and helps bind the scrub together. We choose coconut oil because it is moisturizing without being heavy but other common choices are olive oil, or sweet almond oil. The pumpkin spice extract just smells fantastic.
How To Make Brown Sugar Body Scrub:
Use a spatula or spoon to stir all of the ingredients together, making sure to blend everything together well. You can also use an essential oil instead of extract if you have an oil you love.
Once the sugars, coconut oil, and extract are blended together place in a jar. You can use a mason jar or I used an old candle jar that had a pretty wooden lid. I just made sure to wash the jar out well. It is a great way to upcycle the candle jar.
After the Pumpkin Spice Brown Sugar Body Scrub is in the jar, print the free printable and glue it to the top of the jar or the front. You could also punch a hole in it and tie it onto the jar with ribbon or twine. Just right click and select “print image”. Or drag the image to your desktop, then select “File” from the top menu, and “print” from the drop down.
How To Use:
To use, apply the scrub to damp body skin in a circular motion, then rinse off with warm water. It’s a great way to exfoliate and moisturize your skin at the same time. Not intended for the face but it is great for thee arms, legs, feet, and hands. The massaging action of applying a sugar scrub can stimulate blood flow to the skin’s surface. Improved circulation can contribute to a healthier complexion. Exfoliating the skin can help lighten dark spots and hyperpigmentation, giving the skin a more even tone over time.
Remember to use sugar scrubs in moderation, as over-exfoliation can lead to irritation. It’s generally recommended to use a sugar scrub once or twice a week, depending on your skin type and sensitivity. Additionally, if you have any skin conditions or concerns, it’s advisable to consult with a dermatologist before incorporating new skincare products into your routine.
Conclusion
Brown sugar body scrubs offer several benefits for the skin due to their exfoliating and moisturizing properties. Sugar is a natural exfoliant that helps remove dead skin cells, promoting smoother and softer skin. Regular exfoliation can improve skin texture and make it look more radiant. Use this DIY Brown Sugar Body Scrub to pamper yourself or gift it to someone. It would even make a great teacher gift as they are all so busy taking care of our children after a long summer!
