I recently found out about blue light filter glasses. I didn’t even know they existed before and so I hope to share this revelation with with you. I had heard of blue light from computers, cell phones, tablets, and TVs making it hard for people to fall asleep. However, the only solution I had heard was turn off your devices a 2-3 hours before sleep. So when I found out about Spektrum Blue Light Filter Glasses I was intrigued. I was even more excited when I found out that blue light blocking lenses help prevent macular degeneration and dry and sore eyes as well. This post is brought to you by Spektrum but all opinions are my own.
Benefits of Blue Light Filter Glasses
As a blogger, blue light blocker glasses are a no brainer for me. Besides my laptop and my planner, these Spektrum glasses are going to be my new must-have. I spend a lot of time on the computer and I want to protect my eyes. If you are a blogger, gamer, you work from a computer, or you like staying up late and watching TV, then you probably need Spektrum Blue Light Filter Glasses too.
Are blue light filter glasses worth it?
Here are the benefits of blue light blocking glasses to help you decide if they might be useful to you. Blue light filter glasses are designed to block or reduce the amount of blue light emitted from screens, such as those on computers, smartphones, and other electronic devices. The potential benefits of blue light filter glasses include Reduced Eye Strain and Potential for Retinal Protection. If you spend a significant amount of time in front of screens and experience eye strain or sleep disturbances, blue light filter glasses could be worth trying. They’re relatively inexpensive, and many find them helpful in reducing discomfort associated with prolonged screen use.
Blue Light Blocking Glasses May Benefit Your Eyes
Blue light contributes to digital eye strain and aggravates macular degeneration. Digital eye strain can result in dry and sore eyes. I know that I sometimes feel that after a long day on the computer. The cumulative effect of blue light can also cause damage to the retina. My mom always told me not to sit to close to the TV to protect my eyes but I end up sitting close to my computer everyday so I am happy to have my Spektrum Blue Light Filter Glasses to help protect my eyes now.
Blue Light Blocking Glasses May Benefit Your Ability To Fall Sleep
Scientific American points out that “scientists have been cautioning against using light-emitting devices before bed [because]…blue light affects levels of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin more than any other wavelength.” Blue light suppresses melatonin release making it harder to fall asleep and affecting our body’s natural natural clock. “Stressors that affect our circadian clocks, such as blue-light exposure, can have much more serious consequences than originally thought.” If you must work on blue light emitting device right before bedtime or you just can’t help but want to, then blue light blocking glasses may benefit your ability to fall asleep by stopping the melatonin suppression.
I would like to point out, just to be clear, blue light blockers are not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of a disease or condition. It is also important to note that while some studies support the potential benefits of blue light filters in reducing eye strain and improving sleep, more extensive research is needed to fully validate these claims.
Best Blue Light Blocking Glasses
If you are interested in the possible benefits of Blue Light Filter Glasses you should know that Spektrum offers two types. Which are the best blue light blocking glasses for you? Well, let me help you answer that based on my Spektrum blue light blocking glasses review and my research. If you are like me, you may assume that, of course, the Elite 99% blue light blocking glasses are the best. While I still believe that to be true, I would now add that just because they block the most blue light, does not make them best for you.
If you use the computer and/or other devices mostly during the day and you have no problem falling asleep then I would suggest the Spektrum clear 50% computer blue light blocking glasses for you. They help protect your eyes, you already sleep well, and the clear lenses are easy to wear. By easy to wear, I mean you won’t have to explain why they are yellow because they look like normal glasses. I also mean, that you won’t need to adjust to the amber blue light blocking glasses which make you see everything through amber colored lense leaving the screen and world yellowish when you to your view.
Spektrum Glasses Review
If you don’t mind seeing things in yellow, or if you use the computer and/or devices less than 2 hours before bedtime and have trouble sleeping, then the best blue light blocking glasses for you are the Elite 99% blue light blocking glasses.
I chose the Elite amber colored blue light blocking sunglasses because I work from home and I get a lot of screen time and I didn’t think I’d mind a yellow tinted view. I am happy to have the most protection and I can say that my eyes really do feel less tired and dry at the end of a computer work day after wearing the Spektrum Elite. I never had problems sleeping so I can’t really tell you if it helps with that other than to say the research suggest that it should.
My daughter likes to wear them when she gets her ipad time too and I feel great about that.

I’ve never heard of these glasses either but I do use the Twilight app on my smartphone and tablet as well as F.lux software on my desktop. Both features turn my screens orange which cuts down on the blue light. The orange light on my mobile devices really help me fall asleep faster, it’s very interesting how that works.
