There seems to be a common misconception that moms are not fashionable, and that as soon as motherhood starts, fashion goes out the window. We don’t know if this is what you believe, but we completely disagree. With the multiple options that are available to us today, anyone can be fashionable, moms included. If you are a mom, and need a little push in the fashion department, read up on our easy tips and get your fashion mojo back!
Stylish Fashion For Moms
1. Wear items that you used to wear on your pre-mom days.
Life as a mom can be extremely busy and hectic, and it can be very easy to fall into the trap of just wearing sweats, but when you keep and wear items that you’ve had even before you were a mom, chances are you’ll be reminded of your sense of style, and how much you loved dressing up then. You can then use this piece as reference the next time you go shopping. Just take note that your item of clothing still fits well, and is somewhat in fashion. If you need a few new things, Prana offers sustainable fall fashion for women.
2. Ditch the sneakers and go for the ballet flats.
It is understandable that moms like to be comfortable, and are always on the go, hence the choice of comfy footwear in the form of sneakers. However, sneakers are just not always flattering and can make one look frumpy. Why not try out some ballet flats instead, they can just be as comfortable as sneakers and look so much more chic.
3. Work in some colorful accessories to your outfits.
Colorful accessories are an inexpensive way to add some fun and personality into your outfit. Color is also a great pick me up, and can immediately change your mood. Try adding a colorful scarf, belt, and or earrings.
4. Invest in a good-looking and well-sized handbag.
A big, slouchy and colorful handbag immediately looks better than your run of the mill diaper bags. Moms who need to carry around supplies for the kids can do so discreetly and fashionably. What’s more, huge handbags have been on trend for years now, and show no signs of going away. Fashion forward moms can certainly use this trick to their advantage.
5. Dabble in a little makeup.
When I say makeup, I don’t necessarily mean a full made up face. A touch of blush or bronzer to your face, some concealer, and some lipgloss or lipstick can instantly make you look better and feel better too!
6. Find A Great Pair Of Jeans
A fabulous fitting pair of jeans will make dressing for comfort and style easy! More and more brands are realizing how important it is to have the right fit. Not only does a garment fitting correctly look better—it feels better, too. Seek out those brands that offer style options such as “long and lean” or “curvy”. Everybody’s body is different—so shouldn’t we be buying different fits? The modern jean is all about contouring the shape of your body and donning a clean fit. Throw on a cute t-shirt or a great cut sweater and voila you look fabulous but you can still rock a baby on your hip!
7. It’s not the size, it’s the fit.
Update your look and step into the age of personal branding by buying clothes that are fitted to your body and that contour it correctly. Even if you’re a curvy girl, bulky clothing makes a poor choice for a flattering figure. Think about lighter cottons, modern patterns and specific cuts such as a v-neck tee.
8. Don’t let age dictate how you dress.
You’re only as old as you feel. If you are in your forties, fifties or sixties, you should wear what feels good to you, not wear what a manufactured version of what a fifty, sixty or seventy year old should look like. It doesn’t give you license to wear cutout spandex minis, it just means to closely consider what choices are perfect for your body type. Dress with edited maturity.
9. Try your attitude on for size.
Dress up for PTA, doctor and bank meetings. Dress everyday as though you were meeting a friend for lunch mid-day. What you wear should make you feel good and if you feel good, you have a more positive optimistic look on life. You will also be more prone to responding to things in a positive fashion. A budget as low as $300 can change key items in your wardrobe this summer.
10. Your skin is your accessory.
Dark skin or nice tan wears brighter colors nicely, where pale skin works nicely with deep colors and hues.

Thanks for sharing these tips. I’ll admit most days if my make-up and hair isn’t done by 9am there’s no way it’ll get done, lol.
I grew up wearing Converse All Stars and just started using flats about a year ago at the encouragement of my daughters. I didn’t realize how comfortable they are. 🙂
