Y’all know I live in Nashville so naturally, I enjoy good live country music. I don’t have a chance to get out without the kids very often but when I was invited to the 2015 New Music Showcase, I couldn’t resist. It was really fun to get to hear some of the hottest new talent coming to country radio.
2015 New Music Showcase Line Up
The music event was hosted by Morgan Alexander of WKDF Nashville Radio and held at the Nashville Crossroads Bar. It was the 8th Annual New Music Showcase and (only my first invitation- what?!) the perfect chance to check out the hottest new country music talent.
1. Marty McIntosh –
Born the son of a preacher man, he grew up in Alabama singing in church. Marty McIntosh was nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the year at the 2015 New Music Awards and is currently sitting at # 6 on New Music Weekly’s Country Chart. He sang “Sign of the Times,” and “Let Me Love You For The Weekend.” He has a deep, rich voice and to me, he was sort of rock and country mixed. I dug up a video of him playing Sign of The Times on his Facebook Page here.
2. Gary & Carol Bibb –
They play Christian and positive country music. Recording as a duo from Missouri, the husband and wife team Gary & Carol Bibb were adorable to watch and they play fun country music that made me want to get up and dance.
3. Dave Caley –
Born in Blackpool, England, he grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He sings Country, gospel and even plays the fiddle. He has been inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall Of Fame. I loved his remake of Dan Seals, “They Rage On.”
4. Susan Hickman –
Susan is from Houston, Texas and has toured Europe. She has a beautiful, soulful country voice and I loved her song “Like A Moth to A Flame” which will be released in April.
5. Sarah Buss –
Also from Houston , Texas, Sarah is just 17 years old. She sang a song called “What Happened Next?” that she said she had just written that morning! I was very impressed and I liked her voice and spunk!
6. Tom MacLear & Friends-
Tom MacLear is a world-class country musician, songwriter and producer. He has written for such greats as Brad Paisley and Annie Lennox and toured with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Emmy Lou Harris. He is the 2015 New Music Awards nominee for Best New Country Group and Best Crossover Artist of the year. It was a pleasure getting to meet him and see him perform with his band.
This is when my parking meter ran out and I had to go get my kids so I missed the rest but also performing were:
7. Allie Louise –a 15 year old newcomer.
8. Michael Eston – 2015 New Music Awards nominee for New Country Artist of the Year whose current single sits at #7 on the New Music Weekly Country Charts.
9. Morgan Riley – 2015 New Music Awards nominee for Female Artist and Breakthrough Artist of the Year, with a soon to be released single “Down South”.
10. Matt Farris – His current single at radio “She’s Done” is #5 on New Music Weekly magazine’s Country Chart. He’s a nominee for the 2015 New Music Awards for New Country Artist of the Year.
I hope you enjoyed this little peek into the Nashville country music scene and the New Music Showcase! Have you heard any of these country music talents yourself? Leave a comment if you have and tell us how you enjoyed their show!
