This recipe is for peanut butter brownie puppy chow or some people might know them as Muddy Buddies. Puppy Chow is a snack mix made with Chex cereal coated in a mixture of chocolate, peanut butter, butter, and vanilla, and then coated with powdered sugar. It’s a popular treat often served at parties, holidays, and gatherings. These delicious treats are just the right mixture of quenching your sweet tooth and chocolate cravings at the same time. The Brownie Puppy Chow is a wonderful peanut butter chocolate snack. If you love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, you’ll love this brownie puppy chow Chex mix recipe that has all of the that flavor except with a crunch!

I remember when my sister and I were younger, we would dig through a mixed bag of puppy chow with nuts and M&M’s to find these delicious bites. Puppy chow Chex mix is great to send through the mail too! If you want to send homemade treats to your kids in college or have a special someone serving oversees, the puppy chow (or if you call them Muddy Buddies) are perfect to ship and will be LOVED by any recipient!!

The Best Brownie Puppy Chow Chex Mix Recipe

Puppy Chow Chex Mix Recipe

This Brownie Puppy Chow Chex Mix Recipe is just one variation of many different puppy chow recipes that exist. That is because it is so easy to customize Chex mix recipes to your taste.  You can chose your favorite kind of Chex cereal.  You can chose your add ins and your toppings.  I chose to use Chex rice cereal with the normal peanut butter and chocolate mixture. Then I used brownie mix as the coating (instead of powered sugar).  I think this is the best brownie puppy chow Chex mix recipe around and I enjoy them just like this. They are delicious! But if you want, you can add some chocolate chips, mini Reese’s Peanut Butter cups or M&Ms to suit your taste.

Brownie Puppy Chow Chex Mix Ingredients:

Puppy Chow Chocolate Mixture

In a microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips, creamy peanut butter, vanilla extract, and butter for 30 seconds. Take out and stir and repeat this process of heating and stirring a couple of times until the peanut butter chocolate mixture is smooth.

Pour the mixture over the cereal and mix it until all the Chex in the bowl are covered.

Once the Chex has been fully mixed, dump the contents into a large plastic Ziploc bag and add brownie mix into the bag. Seal the bag without squeezing out excess air.

Here is the fun part… SHAKE THAT BAG!!  Shake it until all the brownie mix covers the cereal.
