I recently wrote a post about 17 things to do in Cannery Row, Monterey, California. After having experience Cannery Row first hand on a press trip, I had so many stories and photos I wanted to share that I couldn’t fit it all into one article. This post is focused on where to eat and stay in Cannery Row. You are sure to love these Cannery Row restaurants and hotels. I know I did!

Amazing Restaurants On Cannery Row

If you are a lover of really good food, like I am, you could just dine your way through Cannery Row while enjoying memorable dishes made with locally grown fruits and vegetables and local sustainable seafood. There was so much scrumptious food to enjoy and most of the Cannery Row restaurants offer a setting with spectacular views of the Monterey Peninsula coastline.

Cannery Row Restaurants include a wide variety of award‐winning fine dining and casual restaurants. With over 30 places to eat along the historic Cannery Row waterfront, there is plenty of choice. Here are the Cannery Row restaurants that I tried personally and I can tell you I enjoyed each meal. There is a lot of seafood on each menu since they are located right on the Monterey Bay, but each restaurant had non-seafood offerings as well.

Schooner Coastal Kitchen & Bar

The Schooner Coastal Kitchen & Bar is located in the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa and extends right out over the water for amazing views while you eat.  It has a dark mahogany nautical themed interior and a large menu with a knowledgable wait staff that can help you select the perfect local wine to compliment your meal.

Schooners is a super fancy seafood restaurant that you will most certainly love. I enjoyed a delicious artichoke chowder to begin (Monterey area’s Castroville is the Artichoke Capital of The World) and I followed it with the Dungeness crab cakes off the appetizer menu (because a girl can only eat so much even when it is delicious). The crab cakes were served with a small arugula salad and fresh mango salsa. I was 100% satisfied with my meal and the view.

The Fish Hopper Restaurant Cannery Row

I have no shortage of nice things to say about this Cannery Row restaurant. I just loved it. In fact, I think The Fish Hopper is actually one of my all time favorite restaurants that I have ever eaten at. Plus, the setting is fantastic. With dining right out over the ocean, amazing jelly fish lighting, and fabulous service, it more than meets expectations. I also loved hearing about how the restaurant has been a continued family tradition as well as the family’s commitment to philanthropy.

FishHopper

The Fish Hopper has an impressive list of house cocktails and we all got a different one to try. I could only drink half of my “Bucket of Fire” but it was delicious! We also enjoyed a seafood sampler appetizer which consisted of a light fried calamari, crab cakes, tuna ceviche, and coconut shrimp served with fresh papaya and dragonfruit. I just couldn’t stop eating and eating. Then my macadamian encrusted halibut came and it was truly a show stopper. I didn’t want dessert because I so full but when they showed me the options,I had to try the limoncello mousse cake.

Once I tried it, I never wanted to stop eating. I am super picky about desserts and this was the most amazing dessert. I want that cake for my birthday from now on so I hope my husband can learn to make it!

Need more Cannery Row restaurants to try? How about Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Company

For a fun dining experience, try the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. Full of movie decor, I couldn’t stop smiling as I read all the funny signs and recognized things from the movie. Of course, we had some shrimp! We enjoyed some hushpuppies and delicious, fresh shrimp cocktail while we took in the atmosphere and ocean views. We also aced the movie trivia and then we got souvenirs in the gift shop.

Again, a beautiful oceanside dining experience! Or outdoor dining options are available on Cannery Row street itself. We enjoyed people watching and we even thought we were about to witness a proposal on the beach below. I enjoyed a yummy mocktail and a tasty salad.  All of their pasta is made in house.

A Taste of Monterey

This is a must while you are in Monterey.  I would not want to have missed out on this!  A Taste of Monterey offers beautiful views of the ocean, amazing food, and amazing wine tasting opportunities. There is also a a very nice retail shop so you can have some wine sent home or pick up a few wine decor items for friends back home.

The wine flights were a really fun experience for both novices like myself and more developed palates like @cajunmama.  Because I am visual, I really enjoyed being able to read about and learn about the wine as I sipped it.

A Taste Of Monterey

The food was so good too!  We had an amazing cheese plate, flat bread, and crab dip.  It just hit the spot and was top notch quality.

The C Restaurant And Bar

With a pretty outdoor firepit and bay views, this was a fun spot to stop for a drink and a bite.  They had a beautiful champagne flight and tasty sangria. The food was so good that I would like to try a full meal here.  We shared a few appetizers which were delish- fried calamari, grilled artichoke, and mushroom flatbread. You can see delicious dishes in my Instagram post-> here.

I think you get the idea- there is plenty of good food on Cannery Row!

Cannery Row Hotels Monterey

Cannery Row offers the most ocean view hotels in all of Monterey!  Now I can’t offer you as much personal experience in this department but I can tell about a few fabulous choices.

The Victorian Inn Best Western

Just a short walk to all the action of Cannery Row, this lodging option will save you a little cash and it still offers a very nice, spacious room with high beamed ceilings, a gas fireplace, and a jet tub. I enjoyed the complementary continental breakfast which included eggs french toast, and sausages. There was also an evening wine and cheese reception. I could see the ocean from my room but there were roofs in between that kept me from seeing the shoreline. I think the Victorian Inn was a great family option- very clean, very pretty and they offered family suite accommodations.

Monterey Bay Inn

Monterey Bay Inn

The Monterey Bay Inn is a luxury hotel that is located right on the water so you have great views and you can listen to the waves crash from your balcony. You can also enjoy the garden views and explore the rocks to spot sea anemones. Inside the beautiful decor is eye catching and the bathrooms are huge. There were 2 hot tubs to enjoy a robes to wear on your way there. The complementary continental breakfast included hot pastries delivered to my door.

InterContinental The Clement Monterey

I took a look inside of this Cannery Row hotel and it was lovely. I didn’t stay there myself but I loved what I saw of it!

I didn’t stay here but I can tell you from just walking by the outdoor area several times that it had amazing views and a fire pit to enjoy in the evenings.

Cannery Row restaurants and hotels leave nothing to be desired and you are sure to enjoy your stay in Cannery Row.
