There is something about marble run toys that are irresistibly fun. We all love building and watching the marble zip through our creations. There is one marble run that sits far above others though- Cuboro. This solid wood marble run toy is really different from most marble runs because it is challenging! Sure young children can build simple marble runs. However, older children can also build elaborate marble runs. The ball can disappear into the marble run inside of tunnels they create and come back out in surprising places! Cuboro is the best marble run toy because kids and parents can play with it together and never get bored. This marble run allows each person to work at their own skill level. The resulting marble runs just get more impressive.

The Best Marble Run Toy Is Fun And Challenging
Now that my kids are 8 and 10, I notice they seem to play less with most of their toys. The toys that get the most play time and really captivate their interest are imaginative toys and toys that are challenging in some way. It makes sense- we love the thrill of figuring something out, making something work, learning something new, and exercising our skills. I think that is why my children still enjoy playing with the Cuboro marble run toy even after many years of owning it. It has kept challenging them even as they grow and progress. It meets them at their level and allows them to build cooler runs all the time.
In the beginning, they built very simple marble runs. Now they can challenge themselves through free play to create more complex runs. Sometimes they also use the included Cuburo book that is full of building ideas. This is great for learning to follow directions and execute them properly.
Marble Run Toy Sets:
Cuboro award-winning block and marble run toy sets consist of impeccably crafted solid wood square blocks. These wooden blocks are made from FSC-compliant (sustainable) European beechwood and glass marbles perfectly sized and weighted to roll. Some blocks are solid wood. Others have one or more pathway bored through them and/or on the surface of the block. Swiss made Cuboro is the best marble run toy because it has many sets that offer new blocks that provide even more marble run options.
Cuboro Basis or Cuboro Standard
The Cuboro Basis is smaller sized introductory solid wood marble run toy while the Cuboro Standard USA is a larger sized introductory set. Either set is a great gift that will keep challenging kids for a long time as they offer so many building combinations. Part marble run and part puzzle they will truly challenge your child and help your child develop all kinds of skills such as diligence, logic, planning, patience and even team work. There is also a starter set for younger children, 3+, called Cugolino.
Here is an old video of something my daughter built when she first got the set back in 2010.
Cuboro Add On Sets
Once your kids have mastered the starter solid wood marble run sets, you can get Cuboro Add On Sets that introduce new features. For example, Cuboro Duo adds blocks that allow side by side channels and tunnels for marble racing! Cuboro Metro adds new elements that let you tunnel and turn on the same level, providing more internal possibilities so that marbles may disappear within the run for longer periods.
Encouraging Creative Thinking
If you want to take Cuboro to a whole higher level, there is even a curriculum, Cuboro Creative Thinking, designed around using it for creative thinking offering a playful but purposeful training of spatial sense and logical thinking.

I love that these look so versatile! So many ways you can build and play. I have a set of plastic ones in my preschool classroom that get boring quickly because there’s only so much you can do with them. I love that there are add-ons for more challenges with this set.

I don’t think I’ve used a marble run since…well, ever. This looks like lots of fun for kids, and even better that it can be redesigned for extra skill practice.

This will keep kids busy for hours. So many possibilities. My hubby likes these sort of toys but they frustrate me. At least until the end and then they are fun!
