Scarlet’s Christmas Chex Mix Recipe
Prep Time: 10-15 minutes
Time to let chocolate drizzle cool: 15-20 minutes
Total Time 25-35 minutes
Makes 29 servings (1/2 cup each)
Easy Christmas Trail Mix Ingredients:
- 6 cups Cinnamon Chex Cereal- (feel free to plain rice Chex or corn Chex)
- 1/8 cup real maple syrup (I used B&E’s Trees Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup for some extra holiday cheer!)
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups mini vanilla wafer cookies
- 1 cup mini pretzels (or pretzel sticks)
- 2/3 cup white chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp holiday sprinkles
- 1 cup roasted and salted almonds
- 1/2 cup mini marshmallows
- 1/2 cup red and green M&M’s
These simple ingredients sure make for delicious holiday snacks!
How To Make Christmas Chex Mix:
Gather your ingredients onto a nice clear work space.
Get out 2 large rimmed baking sheet pans or a large rimmed cookie sheet. You can line them with parchment paper for easy clean up if you like.
Fill one with Chex cereal and the other with pretzels and mini nilla wafers and spread them out evenly.
In a small microwave-safe bowl, microwave butter for 20 to 30 seconds, until melted. Stir in maple syrup and drizzle mixture over the Chex cereal.
In a small microwavable bowl, microwave white chocolate chips for 45 seconds, take them out and stir. Continue to microwave at 15 second intervals and then take out and stir until smooth and creamy. Drizzle white chocolate over both pans.
Sprinkle with holiday sprinkles while the white chocolate is still warm so they will stick.
Allow to cool for about 15 minutes or until white chocolate hardens.
Break apart any large clumps of cereal mixture, pretzels, or wafers. Then you can add the nuts, M&Ms, and marshmallows and mix cereal well in a large bowl or on the trays.
Serve and enjoy! You will love what a simple recipe this is for such a perfect holiday treat.
Holiday Chex Mix Recipe Tips:
If you would prefer peppermint to cinnamon flavors, use plain Chex mix instead, up the total maple syrup to 1/4 cup, and add 1/3 cup crushed peppermint candies.
When it comes to drizzling the melted white chocolate you can be fancy and use a piping bag or simple and let it drop off a butter knife as you dip and wave over the pan.
You can substitute your favorite nuts in this mix.
This fixes up so quickly that it makes the a great last minute treat.
Store in covered airtight container at room temperature.
Serve this Christmas Chex mix recipe in bowls at a party, in tin pails or paper bags at a movie night, or in mason jars.
They make great DIY homemade gifts if you just add gift tags to individually packaged snack mixes.
It is also the perfect snack to use as Reindeer chow!
