Have you already started making holiday crafts? We love crafting around the holidays and it is one of family Christmas traditions. There are so many fun Christmas crafts that you can make and gift to friends and family. Today, my kids made a fun Paper Plate Christmas Tree. This is a very easy Christmas craft kids will love and it is great for younger children. There is lots of gluing and if your kids are anything like mine, a craft is REALLY good if there is a glue stick involved!

Materials needed for your Paper Plate Christmas Tree:

  • Green Paper Plates (3-4)
  • Glue
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Decorations for your tree (stickers, pom pom balls, glitter. etc…)

Instructions for how to make your Paper Plate Christmas Tree:

Gather your supplies and head to a flat space where you can spread out. Start by cutting the top off of your plate. You want the top to be flat. Next, roll your paper plate up so it is in the shape of a tree (or cone). Once you have it shaped correctly, tape it down (children can of course help with this part). I picked out a place where I did all my taping…decide on a backside of your tree. Next, you are going to take one or two other green plates and cut them in half. Now cut the outer rim off of the halves. These are going to be the “branches” of your tree.

For the next step of this Christmas craft kids will love, take each cut strip and wrap around the tree taping in the back. Working your way up with each new strip of paper plate. Once that it done, you child can start decorating their tree! We used pom pom balls, some string that had little pom poms on it for garland and my daughter found some heart foam stickers that worked perfectly.

Crafting is great for kids and adults to do together- it helps lower stress and encourages creativity! This is definitely a fun Christmas craft kids will enjoy this time of the year.
