Have you heard of pharmacogenetic testing? It is an exciting field of personalized medicine aiming to match treatment to your genes. In other words, by examining our DNA, doctors receive information that suggests which health care choices will be best specifically for you. That is why I am pleased to partner with ClarityX direct to consumer genetic testing. Their convenient, easily accessible in-home testing options help take the guesswork out of your healthcare. I am pleased to have been provided with a ClarityX dna test kit to review.

Finding The Right Medications Based on Your Genes

There have been so many advances in science and these are already improving health care in countless ways. Furthermore, the completion of the Human Genome Project (HGP), an international, collaborative research program that focused on mapping all the genes of human beings has provided even more opportunity to improve medicine. Dr. Francis S. Collins, who was director of National Human Genome Research Institute, said that the human genome could be thought of as “transformative textbook of medicine, with insights that will give health care providers immense new powers to treat, prevent and cure disease.” These are exciting times with so much potential for advancing and personalizing health care.

ClarityX believes that one size does not fit all when it comes to the right medication. This is because, prescription medications are metabolized differently, and side-effects vary from person to person. ClarityX provides medical and clinical grade testing. The results of ClarityX at-home genetic testing can help inform a patient and their doctor which medication is right for them in an easy-to-read chart.

Eliminate The Guesswork

From our family history we might know that we are prone to certain genetic variants. A healthcare provider can assess this and provide the appropriate testing to diagnose conditions. The next step is finding the right medication for the condition. Pharmacogenetic testing is such an advanced field because it helps find the right medicine based on your DNA. Equally exciting is that it can help you avoid medicines that may cause side effects or not work. When you are sick, the prospect of trying multiple medicines to find an effective one can be daunting.

One of my nieces suffers from mental illness and trying to get her to take medication at all is a struggle. Knowing the best options for the right mental health medications upfront is really an amazing gift! I think the insight that ClarityX is able to provide is an invaluable tool.

Two Types Of ClarityX DNA Pharmacogenetics Tests:

ClarityX provides two types of pharmacogenetic testing. They are both genetic-based decision support tools that analyze clinically important genetic variations that may affect your response to current and future prescribed medications. This Clarity X dna test covers 200 of the most commonly prescribed FDA approved medications. The ClarityX Mindwell Test is a genetic test focused on your mental health. The ClarityX MaxRx Test looks at your genetic profile in relation to more physical health problems.

Mindwell®

The ClarityX Mindwell Test looks at how your DNA will respond to mental health medications. In other words, it checks your drug metabolism for psychiatric medications. It provides insights on which medications will work best for your condition based on your unique genetic profile including:

  • Clinical Depression
  • Anxiety Disorder
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • ADHD / ADD
  • OCD
  • PTSD
  • Schizophrenia
  • Opioid Withdrawal
  • Pain Management

Max Rx®

The ClarityX MaxRx Test focuses on the 16 therapeutic areas below. It provided information as to which medications will work best for you, including medications that will require a dosage adjustment, and which drugs may put you at risk for unwanted side effects based on your genetic profile. Includes 16 therapeutic areas:

  • Cardiovascular
  • Immunology
  • Gynecology
  • Infections
  • Gastrointestinal
  • Rheumatology
  • Urological

Thanks for the helpful info. This is the first time I’ve heard of these type of at-home tests for genetic markers and best meds for mental health conditions. It sounds like these pharmacogenetic tests can really help someone.
