Delicious And Easy Father’s Day Breakfast Ideas
So you want to make a big breakfast to impress your husband and/or father but you don’t want to slave away for half the day? Hey, I get it. Moms are busy too! This breakfast is delicious without being hard. It is actually super easy and fairly fast to make. All of the ingredients are simple, natural, and nutritious but loaded with flavor too. And if your dad has a sweet tooth, you can add a ready-made pastries on there from your local bakery as a little treat to go with his breakfast board spread.
What is a breakfast board? Well, a breakfast board is a beautifully arranged platter or large board filled with a variety of breakfast foods, designed to be shared. It’s similar to a charcuterie board, but with breakfast items. It’s popular for brunches, holidays, or special mornings. This Father’s Day Breakfast Board is loaded up with all the breakfast goodies. It is really just a fun presentation method that overwhelms the senses with all the yumminess in one place. You can serve in individual dishes if you prefer this but breakfast board is fun and eye-catching for Dad.
This Father’s Day Breakfast Board Includes:
For each category, I listed the simple, easy to prepare item that I used. I also listed substitutes so that you can personalize the board to your father’s tastes.
- Drinks: coffee, Tropicana Pure Premium® 100% Orange Juice (This is not served on the board itself but should be available to complete the festive meal.)
- Eggs: scrambled eggs (Substitutes include fried eggs, hard-boiled eggs, or omelet.)
- Meats: sausage patties or links, and Canadian bacon (You may sub bacon or smoked salmon.)
- Bread: toasted French bread slices (Other options include bagels or biscuits.)
- Spreads: butter, jelly (Other options include honey or peanut butter.)
- Fresh Fruit: berries (You may sub orange slices, grapes, kiwi, or melon.)
- Extras: shredded cheese, herb garnish, tater tots or hash browns, and donuts or pastries (Optional.)
You can customize your breakfast board to suit dietary preferences—vegan, gluten-free, kid-friendly, etc.—and make it look festive by arranging it creatively. It’s a fun, social, and visual way to enjoy a delicious breakfast together.
Table Decor
Make sure you have a fresh table cloth ready or have cleaned the table if you don’t use a table cloth. Then set the places with all the utensils, remember, today is the day to go all out. Add cloth napkins. Place the condiments and spreads on the table. Add flowers if your dad is into them or add some fun paper decor around the Father’s Day theme. I had the kids fill out some tie-shaped keepsakes with answers to questions about their dad and I made a dress shirt themed card for my husband. My husband is a teacher so it is a nod to his daily uniform and they just make cute and fun table decor. Have the table set and ready before you start the food.
Breakfast Beverages
The two most popular breakfast drinks in the USA are … yes, you guessed them, orange juice and coffee. So prepare coffee your husband’s favorite way for the adults. Serve Tropicana Pure Premium® 100% Orange Juice to whole table. It is perfect for all guests from children to adults. I choose Tropicana Pure Premium® because it has so many great attributes:
- 100% Orange Juice
- Picked at peak freshness
- No added sugar
- No artificial ingredients
- 1 Cup of fruit per 8 oz serving
- Excellent source of vitamin C
Tropicana Pure Premium® Original is 100% pure orange juice, squeezed from fresh-picked oranges (NOT from concentrate). OJ is the perfect combination of taste and nutrition!
Scrambled Eggs
Eggs are a cornerstone of any savory breakfast. I chose to make scrambled eggs because they fast, easy, and usually everyone loves scrambled eggs. To make perfect scrambled eggs, whisk your eggs thoroughly with a splash of milk or cream and a pinch of salt until well blended. Heat a nonstick skillet over low to medium heat and add a bit of butter. Pour in the eggs and let them sit undisturbed for a few seconds, then gently stir with a rubber spatula, pushing the eggs from the edges to the center. Continue to stir slowly until they form soft, creamy curds. Remove from heat just before fully cooked—they’ll finish cooking from the residual heat for a tender, fluffy result. Cooking 6 scrambled eggs over medium-low heat usually takes about 5 to 7 minutes. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Optional, top with shredded cheddar cheese and fresh chopped herbs, like thyme or basil.
Meats
Most dads are known to be meat lovers so I doubled up on the breakfast meats. Again, I chose two flavorful options that are easy to prepare. Canadian bacon and frozen sausage links make excellent choices because they are delicious and easy to warm up. Brown up both of these according to the instructions on the package. To cook frozen sausage links, I usually brown them in a skillet over medium heat, turning occasionally until they’re heated through and evenly cooked—about 10–12 minutes. For Canadian bacon, I just sear the slices in a hot pan for 1–2 minutes per side until warmed and slightly crisp on the edges.
Bread
The theme of my board is all about kicking up the favorites a notch while keeping them simple and quick to prepare. In this case, I chose French Bread. It slices up nicely and toasts easily. Its mild flavor complements both sweet and savory toppings, and its sturdy texture holds up well when spread with butter and jam.
Extras
It is a special day so you want to go a little over board! Add his favorite sweet treat, in this case, fresh bakery donuts. Add a side of potatoes, in this case, tatertot which are really just hash brown nuggets crisped up to golden perfect on the outside.
A big breakfast spread really says a lot these days. Preparing a luxurious Father’s Day Breakfast says, Dad, not only did I make all of your favorites, I also want to sit down to the dinning table and enjoy time with you talking and just being together. What better gift for a father have than time with those who are precious to him?
How To Assemble A Breakfast Board
To assemble a breakfast board, start with a large wooden cutting board or platter or tray and follow these steps:
- Anchor with larger items: Place bowls first (things that need to be contained like eggs and tater tots).
- Add proteins: Add cooked sausage links and Canadian bacon in small clusters (or in a small pan).
- Add breads: Arrange the toast slices around them.
- Layer fruits: Fill gaps with fresh fruits like strawberries and blueberries.
- Include extras: Add pastries in small sections.
- Garnish for flair: Use herbs like mint or rosemary, and tuck in small utensils or tongs for serving.
Balance colors, textures, and shapes to make it visually appealing, and keep similar items grouped to make it easy to grab and enjoy. Don’t worry about it too much, just pile it on there an it will all come together.
That’s it. I love breakfast because you have a huge feast ready in under 20 minutes. Dad will be sure to have an amazing start to his day!
Conclusion
Making a special Father’s Day breakfast is a heartfelt way to show appreciation and start the day with love and togetherness. Whether it’s a simple plate of his favorite eggs or a full breakfast board loaded with thoughtful touches, taking the time to prepare a morning meal just for him lets Dad know how much he’s valued. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. However, it’s not just about the food. It’s about creating warm memories and celebrating everything he does with a gesture that feels both personal and meaningful. Share pics of your special breakfast on social media @familyfocusblog!
