Do you have a Halloween party or event you are attending this year? Need a quick and easy costume idea for you and your spouse or for your kids? Cosmo and Wanda Fairly Odd Parents makes one of the best couples halloween costumes! In my last post on DIY Halloween costumes, I mentioned that my boyfriend and I recreated Wanda and Cosmo from Nickelodeon’s Fairly OddParents last year for Halloween.  Everyone loved the costume idea. This costume is fun to make and CHEAP.  I picked up all of the Cosmo and Wanda Crown And Wands supplies, except the hairspray paint, from Hobby Lobby and my total was under $10.  And I had enough supplies for two costumes! Below you’ll find a quick and simple step-by-step homemade Wanda And Cosmo Costume tutorial!

Supplies Needed For Wanda And Cosmo Costume:

For these Cosmo and Wanda costumes we used clothes we already had on hand. The Wanda costume just needs black leggings and a yellow shirt. The Cosmo Costume just needs black pants, a white dress shirt, and a black tie. Optionally, you can get temporary pink hair dye or use a pink wig for Wanda and green spray for Cosmo’s hair. Also, optionally, wings are great for the fairy godparents of little Timmy Turner.

  • Yellow foam sheet
  • Wooden paint stirrer
  • Black paint
  • Tacky glue and/or stapler
  • Black pipe cleaner
  • Black headband
  • Scissors
  • Tape

These easy DIY costumes were a huge hit with a fun magical touch. The oddparents costumes are so easy that they make a great last-minute Halloween Costume.

How To Make Cosmo And Wanda Crown & Wands:

Step 1:  On a yellow foam sheet, draw a star and a crown with three points.  Each should be 3-5 inches wide.

Step 2: Cut out your star and your crown.

Step 3: Take a wooden paint stirrer and paint it black. Acrylic paint works best, or any paint meant for wood.

Step 4: Using tacky glue or a hot glue gun, glue the foam star to the wooden stick.   If the glue doesn’t seem like it will hold, secure the star with clear tape.  This serves as your DIY Cosmo and Wanda magic wand!

Step 5: Take a piece of black pipe cleaner and glue (or staple) it to the back of the crown.   Wrap the other end of the pipe cleaner around a black, stretchy headband. Clear tape will help keep the pipe cleaner secure.  Be sure to bend the pipe cleaner so that it hovers right above the top of your head.

Step 6: Put the headband across your forehead.   You may need to bobby pin the pipe cleaner to your head so that the crown does not move about too much.  There you have your Cosmo and Wanda gold crowns. The fairy wands complete your DIY costumes.

Step 7: For Wanda, find a yellow t-shirt and black pants.  For Cosmo, you need a white button down, black pants, and a black tie.  And if you’re willing, spray your hair with either green or pink hairspray paint!  This can easily be picked up at your local Walmart.

Conclusion

Cosmo and Wanda also have wings; they’re fairies after all. You can get fairy wings cheap, make some cosmo and wanda wings diy out of cardboard or manila folder paper, or just go without them. The costume will still read!

I encourage you all to challenge your creativity and make a costume you’ll remember and love.  It’s affordable and really fun to make this Cosmo and Wanda Fairly Odd Parents Costume. It is the perfect Halloween costume for couples! You’ll be the life of the party!
