We love DIY projects and crafts at my house. I use them as both fun projects to keep the kids busy when I have things to get done and as fun projects we can all work on together. I especially like it when the DIY projects can be used as decor. However crafty we are, we are never above the help of craft kits and DIY kits. In fact, I love it when someone else does all the work assembling supplies for me! So when Crayola offered me the opportunity to do a review of one of their new DIY makers, I knew my kids would love the idea and I accepted. The Crayola Cling Creator was provided to me in order to facilitate this review.

Make Your Own Window Clings With A Crayola Kit

DIY Window Clings

I love Crayola’s creative spirit and quality products. Crayola has something for kids of all ages and interests- really for adults too because I love crayons and markers!

The New Crayola® Cling Creator makes colorful window cling creations that stick to and easily peel off of windows, mirrors and other flat, smooth surfaces. Your kids can use the molds or create their own fun cling shapes by making molds with the included clay. The DIY window clings can further be customized with multi-colors and textures! The Crayola kit comes with everything you need from tools to color mixing pots and more! They also make a crayola cling creator refill pack so the fun can keep going.

Cling Creator By Crayola [Review]

Crayola Cling Creator review

My kids who are 8 and 10 tested out their Crayola® Cling Creator along with their 12 year old friend. It is made for ages 6 and up. They all worked together and took turns creating their very own DIY window clings. They had so much fun that I found the three of them making more window clings the next day!

The Crayola® Cling Creator comes with everything you need:

  • 1 base unit to hold all the supplies neatly
  • 1 package of molding clay
  • 4 mixing pots
  • 3 color mixing tubes/ 6 finishing tubes
  • 1 clay smoothing tool
  • 1 de-molding/drawing tool
  • 10 pre made plastic molds (5 double sided molds)

They also have Crayola Cling Creator Refill Packs sold separately to so your kids can keep reusing the maker kit to make as many Crayola window clings as they desire.

My kids opened the Crayola® Cling Creator kit and went to work organizing everything into the base provided.

Next my daughter read the Crayola cling creator instructions and started using the pots and tubes to mix up paint colors.

Meanwhile the boys went to town with the molding clay. We worked on making a leaf mold together.

Then they started making their own molds and even getting distracted and just molding the clay into fun shapes.

My daughter just kept mixing and creating more clings. She experimented with mixing colors in the pots and mixing colors in the trays. She also enjoyed adding glitter to the window clings.

The process of making the window clings takes about 15 minutes and they made several clings so it was a project that could be used to fill a 15 minute slot or an hour depending on how many and how creative they get with making their own molds.

They all loved the DIY window cling project and I enjoyed getting to work together on the leaf window cling with them to help decorate for the fall.

Conclusion on Crayola Window Clings

The Crayola Cling Creator is a fun and creative toy that lets kids make their own reusable, customizable window clings. Here are a few reasons it might be worth a try:

  1. Boosts Creativity: Kids can design their own shapes and patterns or use the provided molds. This hands-on activity encourages them to think creatively and experiment with colors and designs.
  2. STEM Learning: The process of creating clings involves mixing, pouring, and setting, which can introduce basic STEM science concepts in a fun, hands-on way.
  3. Mess-Free: Compared to other craft activities, it’s fairly mess-free. The materials are easy to clean up, and the molds help keep the process contained.

The crayola cling creator was a huge kit. The window cling maker is easy to use and allows children to express creativity while making something they can use. It is fun to make your own window cling!

I think the Crayola Cling Creator makes a great gender neutral gift. You can learn more at crayola.com or order through my affiliate Amazon link.

Do you and your kids love crafts and DIY projects? How do you express your creativity during the holiday season? Do you think your kids would like the Crayola Cling Creator?
