There are tons and tons of announcement board ideas to choose from when it comes to making a photo announcement. There are chalkboards, magnet boards, dry erase boards, different fun shaped boards…so many! I decided to make our own announcement letter board for the end of the school year this year. This is an easy, fun craft project for a reusable DIY letter board that is perfect for announcing any occasion from end of school year to pregnancy announcements.
DIY Letter Board Tutorial
I hopped on over to the craft store and found a really inexpensive board in the wood crafts section ($6). It’s just a light colored natural wooden board. It’s pretty thick and durable though and it’s really smooth which is important for the reusable part! I then found some letter stickers too($4). I had a coupon to use which knocked my price to under $10. Are you a coupon user? Most large craft stores have some sort of coupon that is always available so make sure to check for those online or in your weekly mail ads.
Supplies Needed for your Announcement Board:

How To Make A DIY Letter Board:
There are a few different things that you can do to your DIY letter board before you add your stickers (these ideas are totally optional, of course).
You can spray paint the announcement board if you are wanting a color besides the natural wood color or you could add a gloss. This is a good opportunity to match any decor or outfit that you may have in mind. I sprayed ours with a gold spray paint that we had. I just love gold and I thought it would be a great neutral color for reusing the board for future announcements.
If you are some what of a perfectionist when it comes to things, you might want to lightly pencil in some lines for you letters or measure to get the exact center…me?…I just went with what felt right on my DIY letter board and it turned out just fine! It was easy to peel off and adjust when I needed to do so.
Decide on your announcement and place the stickers accordingly. That’s it!
Save your sticker sheet though because you can certainly peel the stickers off the smooth unfinished board and reuse them! This is best done right after the photos so that the adhesive doesn’t get too bonded to the board and peel up any paint. This DIY letter board is probably my favorite announcement board that we have had! I love to use announcement boards to mark big events as our children grow up. What occasion will you be using your announcement board for?
Have you tried making an announcement DIY letter board before? This one is very easy and I love that it can be used over and over!
