There are so many things on the market to use to try to help with these two things but they all seem to be packed full of lots of ingredients that not many people know how to pronounce! I have the perfect DIY Congestion Rub recipe! It’s easy to make and only calls for a handful of ingredients. The best part is that this homemade vapor rub is all natural! There are no synthetic ingredients, no artificial colors or dyes and no artificial scents! This all natural, homemade sinus and chest congestion relief rub is perfect for the whole family!
Disclaimer: This homemade chest rub is for external use only and is not intended as a substitute for medical care. Peppermint, eucalyptus, and pine essential oils are strong oils that should be avoided on children under 6 years old. Always keep away from the face and eyes, and do a patch test on a small area of skin before wider use to check for irritation. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, people with asthma, chronic health conditions, or those taking medications should consult a healthcare professional before use. If congestion is severe, persistent, or accompanied by fever, wheezing, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention promptly.

A vapor rub works by using essential oils to help relieve chest congestion and ease breathing. When applied to the chest, back, or feet, the active ingredients create a cooling sensation that can soothe irritation and provide a feeling of clearer airways. The strong vapors from the rub help open nasal passages and reduce coughing. Additionally, the moisturizing base of the chest rub helps lock in moisture and provides a soothing effect on the skin.
The Peppermint Oil has menthol, which may provide a cooling sensation when rubbed on the chest. Furthermore, all three essential oils have properties that may support clearer airways to help ease breathing.

How To Make Sinus Congestion Relief Rub:
Grab your organic coconut oil and your organic shea butter. Scoop out 1/2 cup of your coconut oil and place in your mixing bowl. Scoop out 1/4 cup of shea butter and add to your mixing bowl as well.

Take your fork and whip those 2 ingredients together for about 5 minutes (or use a hand mixer for an even faster, fluffier result). Once they are mixed well, add 6 drops of peppermint essential oil, and 6 drops of pine essential oil. Finally, grab your eucalyptus essential oil and add 10 drops of that one.

Once you have added all your essential oils, mix with your fork again. Whip all ingredients together for another 2-3 minutes. Once everything is mixed together, transfer your rub into a clean jar for storage. You might need to grab a spatula to scrape the sides of your bowl. Keep jar in a cool place.

How to use your All Natural Chest Congestion Relief Rub:
Where to rub for sinus relief: Take a small amount of your Sinus Congestion Relief Rub and rub on chest and neck. Breathe in the aromatic vapors and enjoy the sensation as it works to help clear chest congestion. Be careful not to get in eyes or eye area as the peppermint oil will cause a temporary burning sensation. Apply every couple of hours or as often as needed until the congestion symptoms are gone.
Important:
See full disclaimer above but this rub is not intended to prevent, treat, or cure any disease. If this is your first time using essential oils please test a very small amount on a small portion of your skin like your forearm. This will help ensure you do not have any sensitivities before applying on a larger area. Always check with your doctor before using essential oils, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have chronic health conditions, or are using medications.
