Making perfume with essential oils has several advantages:
- Natural Ingredients: Essential oils are derived from plants, making them a natural alternative to synthetic fragrances. They often have therapeutic properties and can be less irritating to the skin.
- Customization: You can create unique scents by blending different essential oils. This allows you to tailor the perfume to your preferences and create signature fragrances.
- Health Benefits: Some essential oils are believed to have health benefits, such as reducing stress or boosting mood. Using these oils in perfume can provide a subtle way to enjoy these effects throughout the day.
- Avoiding Chemicals: Many commercial perfumes contain synthetic chemicals that some people prefer to avoid. Making your own perfume with essential oils allows you to control the ingredients and avoid potentially harmful chemicals.
- Creativity: Making perfume can be a fun and creative process. Experimenting with different combinations of oils and creating your own unique scents can be a rewarding experience.

How To Make Your Own Perfume With Essential Oils:
Now, there are many Young Living Essential Oils to choose from so you can really combine any of your favorite oils together but I happen to love the scent of grapefruit and ylang ylang together! I think that combo is very summery since it combines citrus and floral essential oils!
Grab your supplies and head to the counter. Open up your roller bottle and add 15-20 drops of your Ylang Ylang essential oil. Then add 15-20 drops of your Grapefruit essential oil. YL oils are very concentrated. The amount of oil you add just depends on how strong you would like your YL perfume scent to be when rolled on. I like my fragrance to be on the stronger side so I will usually add 18-20 drops of each oil.
Once you have added your essential oils, top off your bottle with witch hazel. I like to use with hazel when making fragrances in the summer instead of liquid coconut oil or almond oil so that my skin won’t be oily after applying. In the winter the liquid coconut oil feels good on my dry skin but I like the lightness and quick absorption of witch hazel in the hotter months. The great thing about witch hazel perfume is the witch hazel is natural and good for your skin and the smell evaporates quickly leaving behind the soft essential oil scents.
Once your bottle is filled up leaving a bit of room at the top, pop the roller back on. Give a quick shake and your fragrance is ready to be rolled on. You will love this floral and citrus summer fragrance. Always shake before you apply to redistribute the essential oils evenly in the natural perfume. I just roll a bit on the under sides of my wrists and a bit behind my ears.
Please note that Citrus Oils are photosensitive so make sure to not roll this fragrance on large amounts of skin and then go immediately and sit out in the sun. Essential oils are made from plant-based ingredients, and like other plant-based allergens, can cause allergic reactions. Perform an allergy patch test before using a product, especially if you have sensitive skin or known allergies.

Hello. I love fragrance blends and this recipe is fantastic. I wondered if it would work fine in a glass spray bottle so I used an old perfume bottle and a small funnel. It works great!
