Earth Day Nature Bingo Printable

April 22nd is Earth Day. It’s also Earth Day’s 54th Anniversary! Wondering what to do for Earth Day? Well, we created a fun project to help get kids excited about Earth Day. The World sees Earth Day as an opportunity to support environmental programs. It is celebrated simultaneously around the globe by people of all backgrounds, faiths and nationalities. This year include your children in the support of Earth Day with a Nature Bingo Printable. This bingo card is meant to be taken into nature and it includes picking up trash and finding items that can be recycled as well as spotting many things in nature!

Earth Day Nature Bingo Printable

Nature bingo is a fun and interactive way to engage with the natural world, especially for children. It can be a great activity to encourage observation skills, learning about different plants and animals, and spending time outdoors. Plus, it adds an element of excitement and competition as participants try to spot the items on their bingo cards. Overall, it’s a simple yet effective way to connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors.

How To Play Nature Bingo

First, print out the Earth Day Nature Bingo Cards. This nature bingo game is unusual because it does not involve calling out cues. Instead, you have to explore and hunt to find the bingo items. It is more like a scavenger hunt. But, you still win bingo by getting 5 in a row, vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. So, head out on a nature hike, to the park, or out into your neighborhood. One child can play by themselves to complete bingo or several children can play be fanning out seeing who finds what first. If they are older children that are splitting up, they can take photos on their phone to show the things they found.

While someone might win the game and get a “Bingo” first, everyone is a winner as the cards fill up and and all kinds of treasures are found.  The environment is a winner to as trash and items that can be recycled are collected and taken care of properly.  This will also help teach your children the importance of picking up trash and recyclables whenever possible. Not just as part of a game!

In addition to teaching children about the importance of picking up trash and other items that are not good for our environment, there are many other ways to get involved!  Teach them to volunteer. Many communities have Earth Day festivals!  Go!!  Change a family habit. Do something nice for the Earth not just on Earth Day but every day. Teach your children to protect the environment year-round!

Conclusion

A game of nature bingo is a great way to get the kids to explore the great outdoors. While on your nature walk, it can also serve as a great conversation starter for family members. This nature activity may in the earth sciences or cause them to become nature enthusiasts! Plus, you can these free printables can be used in your own backyard or in fun new locations like local parks or state parks.

The first player to mark a full row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) shouts “Bingo!” and wins the game. You can also play for multiple rounds or until someone fills the entire card for a longer game. Along the way, players can learn about the different plants and animals they encounter, making it both a fun and educational experience. Nature bingo is a great way to encourage outdoor exploration and appreciation for the natural world.
