Easy Christmas Cannoli Recipe- White Chocolate Candy Cane Cannolis
The holidays are the best! I am one of those people that loves cooking and baking for a crowd and buying everyone the perfect present. I have Christmas music on in early November and happily sing along much to the sadness of those that must listen to me. Furthermore, I usually have two Christmas trees in my house and the whole place is decorated to the hilt. In other words, I am a Christmas junkie.
There is one area though that I kind of feel gets a little old sometimes. It’s the holiday cookies. Cookies are the BIG dessert each and every Christmas and it’s not that I dislike cookies, quite the opposite in fact. It’s just that you can only eat so many of them. You reach a point where you want to scream if someone else presents you with a cookie plate, platter or tin. Maybe I am alone here in this thinking but I like to try and change things up during the holidays with some unique Christmas dessert offerings.
Those of you that don’t know me and my blog aren’t familiar with my fixation on cannolis. You may be wondering, what is a cannoli? Ah, cannolis are lovely, little goodies of Italian heavenliness. They are usually traditional crunchy shells with a soft, sweet ricotta filling. But why not change them up and make them festive? For this holiday season I decided to do just that and what screams Christmas more than candy cane? That’s right, I am bringing you some white chocolate, candy cane cannolis. If you are a fan of the candy cane peppermint flavor you are going to love these minty white chocolate Christmas cannoli.

Here is how to make cannolis. For this easy cannoli recipe, I use pre-made cannoli shells. You, could of course, go all out and make homemade shells yourself with the recipe from Food.com. However, I just get them on Amazon (affiliate link). That is what makes this easy cannoli recipe so easy, all you have to do is dip the store-bought shells in the red chocolate melts and mix up the cannoli filling recipe, and stuff them. Then enjoy this classic Italian dessert with the Christmas twist!
Easy Cannoli Recipe Ingredients For The Shells:
- 6 regular or 12 mini cannoli shells
- 8 oz. White chocolate melts
- ¼ c. Red chocolate melts
- red sanding sugar
Easy Cannoli Filling Recipe Ingredients:
- 21 Hershey’s Candy Cane Kisses, unwrapped
- 1 15 oz container of whole milk ricotta cheese
- ½ c. powdered sugar, sifted
- ¼ tsp. Peppermint extract
White Chocolate Candy Cane Easy Cannoli Recipe Directions:
Place the Hershey’s Candy Cane Kisses into a food processor and process until dust & crumbs. Place 2-3 tablespoons in a bowl and set aside.
Thoroughly drain the ricotta cheese by placing it in some cheesecloth (or a fine mesh strainer) and squeezing to remove as much liquid as possible. You may need to do this more than once depending on the ricotta cheese. Place the ricotta cheese in a bowl and add the sifted powdered sugar. Stir to mix well and then add the peppermint extract and the larger portion of the pulverized Hershey’s Candy Cane Kisses. Stir the creamy ricotta filling until well mixed and smooth. Refrigerate the ricotta mixture until ready to pipe.
Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Melt the white chocolate melts and roll the outside of the cannoli shells in it to cover. Place on the lined baking sheet and refrigerate for a few minutes to firm up the chocolate. Melt the red chocolate melts when the cannoli shells are ready and dip the ends of the cannoli shells into the red melted chocolate and then dip the ends into the red sanding sugar. Once again place the cannoli shells onto the lined baking sheet and refrigerate.
Get out your piping bag. Using a pastry bag fitted with a large opening tip (do not use a closed tip), pipe the cannoli cream filling into the cannoli shells. Dip the ends into the remaining crushed Hershey’s Candy Cane Kisses. Refrigerate or freeze your White Chocolate Candy Cane Cannolis until the chocolate has hardened- about 10-20 minutes. Now, they are ready to serve.
You may wish to wrap them in parchment paper and tie some festive twine around them for a cute presentation and to help keep them the shells crisp. If not eating right away, be sure to place them in an airtight container in order to maintain the crisp shell and store in fridge.
