Eco Lawn Review of Low Maintenance Grass Seed

We try to use eco-friendly management for our lawn. However, this environmental approach is challenging since we are starting off with lots of shady spots, bare batches, and weeds. We recently planted a bunch of lawn seed and then lost the new grass to a drought. That is why I was so excited to find Eco-Lawn grass seed, a low maintenance grass seed at Eartheasy.com. This eco grass is known for deep root systems that are resistant to drought. This family-owned, carbon neutral company offers eco-friendly products and promotes solutions for sustainable living. They provided the low maintenance grass seed in the hopes that I would share my hones opinions. I received no monetary compensation and the opinions expressed are my own.

Eco-Lawn Grass Seed Care-Free Features:

Eco Lawn by Wildflower Farm is a blend of carefully selected fine fescue grasses that grow in full sun, part shade and even deep shade!  Plus, Eco-Lawn™ is highly drought tolerant! Eco-Lawn™ does not require fertilizing and can be mown like a regular lawn or left un-mown for a free-flowing carpet effect.  I am certainly impressed that Eco-Lawn grass seed has a lot of eco friendly benefits for my lawn including water conservation, no need for chemical fertilizers, and saves time and money with less mowing. If you are into low lawn care maintenance, then this is the seed mix for you!

Wildflower Farm’s Eco-Lawn Grass Seed Review:

I planted my grass seed in late August. Late summer or early fall is the best time to plant grass seeds. This is because you get cool evening temperatures, early morning dews, and autumn rains encourage germination and growth. I figured now was the time to give it a go with my new EcoLawn grass seed.

We didn’t do any site preparation. I don’t really water my lawn so I watched the weather forecast. When I saw some rain coming in for a few days, my daughter and I went out and sprinkled the seeds around the existing lawn as evenly as we could with a focus on the bare spots.  It was fun and didn’t take much time!  She loves helping with that sort of thing and she eagerly waits for the growth. There are a lot of detailed instructions and really great tips for best growth results on the Earth Easy website if you want to know the best results way to do it. However, I am a real person with real imperfections so my way did not quite match entirely!

It has been about a week and two days since we planted and I am already seeing some fabulous new growth. This is despite the fact that I am naughty and don’t water daily as suggested!  Even in my mossy spots under my big trees, I have some great new emerging lawn.  I am so excited to have found eco-friendly grass seeds that will make my lawn more eco- friendly by requiring less water, fertilizer and mowing!

Eco Grass Review Update 2021:

I just wanted to check in let you know that the EcoLawn fine fescues really are great for creating a low maintenance new lawn. All these years later my grass is still growing well. I hardly ever water my lawn so it is definitely drought resistant grass and requires less care.

They say that the best lawn care program for weed control is to plant plenty of grass seed so that the weeds don’t fill in the empty patches. I would say this is true. In my experience, this Eco Lawn grass seed doesn’t seem to spread very well by itself. I had hoped that after it germinated and grew it would start spreading but not so much. I found more seeds for a dense turf was the trick.

This pretty green grass does grows great even in the partial shade. It does make a beautiful lawn that does not require frequent mowing as it doesn’t seem to grow way too tall. It is the low maintenance lawn it promises which also means that it is a great option for a eco friendly lawn lover.

EcoLawn Low Maintenance Grass Seed Details:

One 5 lb. bag of Wildflower Farm’s Eco-Lawn Grass Seed is a drought-resistant grass that requires mowing only once per month. Each 5 pound bag of seed covers 1,000 square feet. You can get a discount if you buy multiple bags!

I hope you found my Wildflower Farm Eco Lawn review helpful. I bet you love the reduced lawn maintenance! Do you think this eco lawn seed would be a better choice for an easy to care for green lawn? Let me know if you have any questions on social media @familyfocusblog
