Whether we like it or not, the new school year is right around the corner! Most schools around here will be starting at some point this month! One of the best things for your child, especially during the school year, is getting a good restful night’s sleep. When kids get good rest at night, they are able to enter the school day well rested and ready to go. A tired child might have a hard time listening, paying attention and might not be able to focus on their school work. Toddlers on up to adults can use essential oils to sleep better. After all, adults who don’t get enough sleep are also groggier and grumpier. This Cedarwood Lavender Sleep roller blend is the perfect addition to any nighttime routine! The essential oils in this sweet sleep blend are soothing, calming and relaxing so you can rest easier.
An Essential Oil Recipe For Sleep May Help You Rest More Soundly
Essential oils are natural compounds that are extracted from plants and each one has its own special properties. Individual essential oils can be diffused for aromatherapy or applied topically to help you sleep. Aromatherapy is thought to be therapeutically effective due to the physiological effects of inhaled volatile compounds that act via the limbic system. Topical application is rapidly absorbed through the skin where the natural plant compounds are thought to act on the central nervous system to slightly slow down the body and produce a sleepy feeling.
Here I have taken a few different essential oils to help sleep and blended them together with a carrier oil for maximum benefit. The use of a carrier oil is necessary as undiluted essential oils should not be used directly on your skin. Because plant extracts can be powerful they may cause skin irritation when used in pure concentrated form.
What Young Living Essential Oils Are Good For Sleeping?
One of the best essential oils for a good night’s sleep is lavender oil, which has long “been suggested as an excellent natural remedy to treat insomnia and improve the sleep quality.”
Other essential oils known for their sedative effects include Roman chamomile, valerian oil, bergamot oil, sweet orange, cedarwood, sage oil, ylang ylang oil, vetiver, neroli oil, and sweet marjoram.
Many people enjoy the benefits of essential oils as a natural way deal with mild insomnia and to enjoy more restful sleep.
Supplies Needed For This Sleep Roller Blend Recipe:
- 10 ml Glass Roller Bottle
- Lavender Essential Oil
- Cedarwood Essential Oil
- Orange Essential Oil
- Liquid Coconut Oil
The glass roller bottle is used for easy application of the essential oil sleep recipe to skin. It is great for rolling a few drops on your wrist so that you may get the possible health benefits both through the topical application and the soothing scent.
These chosen essential oils for sleep are all very relaxing. They selected for their calming effect and may be helpful for inducing sleep and improving sleep quality.
Olive oil, grape seed oil, avocado oil or sweet almond oil may be used as a substitute carrier oil if you prefer any of those to coconut oil. Essential oils should not be applied directly to the skin as they are very powerful and best mixed with a carrier oil before application to the skin to avoid any sensitivities.
How To Make Sleep Essential Oil Blend Recipe:
Grab your supplies and head to the kitchen counter. Take your glass roller bottle and add your drops of essential oil first.
Add 8 drops of Lavender essential oil, 8 drops of Cedarwood essential oil and 4 drops of Orange essential oil.
Once you have added your essential oils, it’s time to top off your roller with your carrier oil. I chose to use liquid coconut oil (about 2 teaspoons) because it is great for the skin.
Once you have filled the rest of the bottle up with carrier oil, pop your roller top on and the Essential Oils Sleep Recipe is ready to use!

We roll this blend on our children each night before they jump in bed. We roll it on the bottoms of their feet and on the wrists. I sometimes also roll this blend on their stuffed animals. Anything your child cuddles up to while they are drifting off to sleep would be a perfect place to roll this soft floral scent blend. It really does seem to help them get better sleep.
I also enjoy the sleep recipe for deep sleep and upon early morning awakening I feel more refreshed.

The Young Living brand oils are all we use because we believe in high-quality essential oils. In fact, I am a distributor. This blend helps tremendously with our kids getting a great night’s sleep.
