5 Flu Prevention Tips For Children
1. Keep Your Hands Clean
Kids love to touch everything!! This is a great time to remind them that things they are touching, especially in public places, may have germs. Kids should try to be less touchy feely with things such as the floor, under tables, walls, etc. It is also important to remind kids to clean their hands either by washing with soap for at least 20 seconds or using hand sanitizer. Because their hands will not always be clean, it is best for them to avoid touching their face and bringing germs into contact with their nose and mouth where we are most susceptible to germs.
2. Get Plenty of Sleep
Your immune system needs rest to function at its best. Remind your kids to go to bed on time. Have them wind down with a warm bath or a bedtime story so they will fall asleep when they get in bed.
3. Eat Well
Our nutrition is also a key factor in keeping our immune system strong. Limit your child’s sugar intake and make sure they are getting healthy meals with all the food groups represented.
We try to the boost the immune system further with supplements. There are lots of great choices when it comes to supplements. My kids take a children’s probiotic and a multivitamin.
