We take lots of pictures in general but especially over the summer. Family trips to the beach for water play and local day trips are what are summers usually consist of for us. The problem is that we don’t usually print the pictures off after our fun is had. I don’t think I am alone here! However, my daughter loves looking at pictures of herself and telling stories about the pictures that she’s in. She loves to have something to see that reminds her of the things that we do. So this easy to make foam DIY photo album is going to be a really great project for her to work on this Summer! We can print off at least one picture a week of something that she had fun doing and she’ll get to glue the picture in her book. At the end of Summer, she’ll have a book full of her favorite Summer memories!

Craft Foam Sheets DIY Photo Album Tutorial

Materials/Supplies Needed for your Foam DIY Photo Album:

  • Craft Foam Sheets
  • Letter Stickers
  • Scissors
  • String

Instructions on How to Make Your Foam Craft DIY Photo Book:

Start with your craft foam and draw out a rectangle on one of your sheets. You can use this to trace all your other foam sheets. We added 16 crafting foam sheets but feel free to add whatever amount you’d like.

Once your foam sheets for crafting are all cut out, it’s time to measure a 1/2 inch over from the side and an inch down and up from the top and mark your spots. Then punch hole on the marked spots for your string. Line your sheets up and thread your string through the side of your foam sheets where you have punched the holes out (I actually just used our scissors to make small holes!).

Once that is done, you will need to cut out a rectangle on your first foam page to add a cover photo for the book. Grab a picture and tape it into that spot.  Next, grab your sticker letters and give your child’s picture book a title…we simply went with “My Summer”. Once the title has been added, it’s time to make memories and take pictures of your child so they can add them to their DIY photo book!

Do you have any family activities planned for the Summer? Do you think your child will enjoy making a DIY photo book to capture their summer memories?

This is such a cool idea to record the memories of an amazing time like summer. We also don’t print a lot of pictures in our home, but I wish we did! We need to see them around the house. It’s so good to be able to look back and remember the fun the family had together!
