Hilton Sandestin Review

I love the beach.  There is nothing quite like relaxing on in the sun, feeling the sea breeze, and listening to the waves!  I live in Nashville, Tennessee so the closest beaches are in the South Walton area of Florida.  Sandestin Beach in Florida is about a seven hour drive from Nashville.  And lucky for me, it is also an amazingly beautiful beach- I am talking white sands and clear blue waters.  So when I had the chance to stay at the Hilton, I was more than excited. I did receive a stay at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa in order to facilitate this review.

Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa – Family Hotel Near Destin

Hilton Sandestin Beach Hotel

The Hilton at Sandestin Beach just had a $13 million renovation so if you haven’t been lately, you may not have the opportunity to see all the fabulous, modern updates.  The Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort, near Destin, is a stunning family hotel full of amenities so that you never even have to leave the property- there is plenty to do!  If you want to leave the property, however, there is lots of fun stuff nearby like an outlet mall, a wharf, a water park, and a Top Sail Hill state park.

Hilton Sandestin Family Hotel Accommodations

Hilton Sandestin Junior Deluxe Suite

Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa is among the best family resorts in Florida.  The whole Hilton Emerald Tower is devoted to spacious deluxe junior suites.  The Jr. Deluxe Suites are designed with bunk beds tucked away in a private alcove for children that include a state-of-the-art media center in the private alcove.  I love that the kids can watch their movie while while the parents watch theirs.  The deluxe junior suites each have elegant furnishings, a large sitting area, extra bathroom space, refrigerator, microwave, and a private balcony overlooking Florida’s beautiful Emerald Coast. The deluxe junior suite also has a fold out couch bed, so whether your family is from 3 to 6 in size, you can all fit comfortably.  I thought the bed was incredibly comfortable and so were the pillows.  I also liked that there were two separate bathroom sink areas for family convenience.  The photos above of of my actual view and hotel room.

Hilton Sandestin childcare Kids Krew

Another family feature that the Hilton Sandestin Beach offers is the Kids Krew and Kids night program. Monday through Saturday, they offer a variety of fun kids activities (like sand sculpting to crab hunting to secret agent training!) scheduled in daytime blocks and evening blocks that make it easy for you to carve out some romantic adult time. As awesome as the childcare space is, they do lots of activities outside on the beach which I think is fabulous.  Having childcare is a major plus when it comes to planning a vacation!

Hilton Sandestin Amenities

Sandestin Dining

Another major plus is lots of dinning choices right on the Hilton Sandestin Beach property.  Chose from:

  • Seagar’s Prime Steaks and Seafood- AAA Four-Diamond fine-dining restaurant
  • Hadashi Sushi Bar
  • Picnix Poolside Market
  • Sandcastles Restaurant and Lounge
  • Barefoot’s Beachside Bar and Grill
  • The Coffee Shop- serving an array of specialty Starbucks® coffees and fresh pastries
  • The Sand Bar- beachside libations

I was able to sample a few of the dining venues myself.  I have to say that Barefoot’s Beachside Bar & Grill has stunning views while you eat!

Picnix Sandestin Dinning

Picnix  Poolside Market is a new poolside dining venue, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner items, as well as an ice cream bar.  I enjoyed a delicious chicken salad croissant with a yummy shake.

Sandcastles Breakfast Buffet
Sandcastles Breakfast Buffet

Sandcastles Restaurant is the perfect casual dining choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner, featuring fresh coastal cuisine.  I loved their breakfast buffet with fresh made pastries, grits, eggs, bacon, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, and more!  I also loved the cocktail shrimp appetizer (best I’ve had in years- just so fresh!) and the horseradish crusted grouper I had for dinner.

Hilton Sandestin Beach, Pools, Hot tubs and Water Activities:

Sandestin Hilton Beach and Pool

The Hilton is located right on the Sandestin Beach with access to 2 outdoor pools, 1 indoor heated pool, 1 outdoor hot tub, and 1 indoor hot tub.  It is fabulous.  Really awesome.  I could just rotate between the beach under umbrellas and in the salt water to the deckside in the hot tub all day!  But if you feel adventurous, you could take advantageous of beach volleyball, stand-up paddle boards, sea kayaks, and beach bonfires.

Serenity by the Sea Spa:

Hilton serinity spa

Serenity By The Sea – the Spa at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort- offers a full-service salon and state-of-the-art fitness center.  The spa provides guests with amenities to suit every need – including separate private men’s and women’s lounge areas.  They have a lovely spa shop and all the treatments you could want from hair to nail to relaxing massages.   I enjoyed relaxing in the spa tub and the sauna while waiting for my much needed pedicure.  Everyone was super nice and they had everything I needed to make it a wonderful experience.

Tips For Getting To Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort

Hilton Sandestin pool and beach await

Located along US. Hwy 98, the Hilton property is easy to find.  If driving is not your thing, you can get to the Hilton Sandestin to and from three airports- VPS, ECP and PNS. I suggest VPS and ECP as they are the easiest to access, and shuttle service C2 Transportation charges a flat fee for groups up to four, $60 each way.
