Window Cleaner Recipe With Vinegar
This time of year it is nice to do a deep cleaning of the house. I like to get all the mirrors, glass light fixtures, and windows sparkling. Cleaning windows and glass surfaces in your home can make a big difference in the overall appearance and feel of your space. This simple recipe has only three ingredients but they are super effective when used together. This window cleaning recipe does have vinegar because it is such a great natural cleaner but it also has essential oils to make it smell great.
What is the best homemade window cleaning solution?
I believe the best homemade window cleaning solution is one that uses vinegar as the active ingredient for cleaning because it is non-toxic, all natural, effective, and inexpensive. Vinegar should be diluted to the correct acidity level for cleaning so distilled water should also be an ingredient. Finally, a citrus essential oil is an important ingredient so it will leave a pleasant smell as you clean.
As Healthline points out, “The acidic nature of vinegar is so powerful it can dissolve mineral deposit, dirt, grease, and grime. It’s also strong enough to kill bacteria.”

How To Make Window Cleaner
Start by gathering your supplies and head to the kitchen counter. A glass spray bottle is best to keep the contents from interacting with the bottle. Here is the FFB Amazon affiliate link. However, a plastic spray bottle work in a pinch.
Grab your glass spray bottle and pour 1 cup of white vinegar into the empty spray bottle followed by 1/2 cup of distilled water.
Next, add 20 drops of essential oil to the spray bottle.
Screw the spray nozzle on, give a quick shake and your Homemade Window Cleaner Recipe is all done. You are now ready to clean windows and clean glass. From shower doors to the bathroom mirror to dirty windows, you will love this homemade solution.
How To Use Glass Cleaner Spray
Spray the glass cleaner directly onto the glass surface. Be generous with your homemade cleaner but avoid over-saturating the glass. Use a lint-free microfiber cloth or paper towels to spread the cleaner evenly over the glass surface. Work in small sections for larger surfaces. Use a dry, clean cloth or paper towel to wipe the glass surface in a circular or back-and-forth motion. Continue wiping until the glass is clean and streak-free.
If using on outdoor windows, be sure to remove any dust, dirt, or debris from the glass surface using a soft brush or clean microfiber cloth first.
It works well on windows, car windows, mirrors, glass doors, glass tabletops, or any glass surface! I think this is the best homemade window cleaner and I love that it is streak free.
My friend makes vinyl labels on her Cricut so that is what I used to label my glass cleaner. However you could also print a label. Alternatively, the link to the amazon spray bottles above come with labels. Then you can use a white paint marker to write the name of the cleaner on the bottle.
