Homemade Sunburn Remedy: All Natural After Sun Cooling Spray Recipe
All Natural After Sun Cooling Spray supplies/ingredients needed:
- Spray Bottle ( 8oz )
- 4 Tbsp Pure Aloe Vera Gel
- 6 ounces Witch Hazel
- 20 drops Young Living Lavender Essential Oil
- 20 drops Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil
Directions For How To Make All Natural After Sun Cooling Spray
Gather your supplies and head to the kitchen counter. Start with your spray bottle, natural aloe vera gel and witch hazel. Pour 6 ounces of witch hazel into your spray bottle. Witch hazel contains natural compounds called tannins that are inflammatory and good for soothing irritated skin. Next, add 4 TBSP of the aloe gel. Aloe vera is good for aiding the skin in healing. Next, grab your essential oils.
Add 20 drops of your peppermint essential oil and 20 drops of your lavender essential oil. Screw on the spray top, give a good shake and you are ready to use your After Sun Cooling Spray. You want to make sure to give a good shake before each use since the gel is little heavier than the water and oils. It might sink to the bottom but nothing a gentle shake can’t fix!
Don’t Forget Suncare Before You Go Into The Sun
This after sun spray is great but don’t forget to use suncare before you go out in the sun too! Skin cancer continues to be a health epidemic in the US and according to the Skin Cancer Foundation, “over the past three decades, more people have had skin cancer than all other cancers combined.” The good news is that skin cancer is one of the most preventable cancers.
The CDC offers these skin cancer prevention tips:
- Stay in the shade, especially during midday hours.
- Wear sun protective clothing that covers your arms and legs.
- Wear a hat with a wide brim to shade your face, head, ears, and neck.
- Wear sunglasses that wrap around and block both UVA and UVB rays.
- Avoid indoor tanning.
- Use sunscreen with sun protection factor (SPF) 15 or higher, and both UVA and UVB protection.
These six basic tips are so easy and that is why skin cancer is the most preventable kind of cancer. But first we all have to take it seriously and remember to use suncare on ourselves and our family.
Conclusion
Like I mentioned, this homemade After Sun Cooling Spray is great for the whole family. It’s gentle enough to use on children. Just make sure to NOT get into eyes. When I apply this cooling spray to my face or my children’s face, I spray a little into my hands and then rub on face. This spray can be used as often as you need it. If you skin is sunburned and you are using it as a homemade sunburn remedy, I recommend applying once per hour.
I hope you enjoy this After Sun Cooling Spray recipe. Do you think you might try this natural remedy out this summer?
