DIY Soap for Kids is an easy way to create something fun for your kids to scrub with in the tub! They will enjoy having an animal soap to use. For those kids that might not enjoy bath time, this is the perfect DIY gift to help change that. After making soap for kids, your child will have a blast in the bath. This tutorial for how to make soap for kids is a very easy DIY craft that takes just minutes to make!

Making soap for kids can be a fun and engaging activity. You and your kids can choose favorite colors, shapes, and scents, allowing them to be creative and personalize their soap. If you let your kids help, making soap can be a great educational experience. It teaches kids about ingredients, measurements, and the science behind soap-making. It will also help them to learn about kitchen safety. Furthermore, by making their own soap, kids can become more aware of the ingredients in the products they use and the importance of choosing natural and safe ingredients.

DIY Soap For Kids Supplies Needed:

  • small rubber bath toys
  • 2-3 bars of pure glycerin soap
  • container to pour your melted soap into (I used silicone muffin molds)

Directions On How To Make Soap For Kids:

Gather your supplies and head to your kitchen. Unwrap a bar of your pure glycerin soap and place in a microwave safe glass bowl or measuring cup.

melt glycerin soap

Microwave your glycerin soap for 20 seconds at a time stirring after each 20 seconds. It took my bar of soap about 60 seconds to melt completely. Be careful when removing your glass container from the microwave because it will be hot. Give one more quick stir and now your are ready to pour your melted glycerin soap into your containers. One bar of melted soap filled up 3 small silicone muffin molds.

Feel free to add a natural scent to your soap after melting. We like to add a few drops of Lavender or Orange Essential Oil!  They smell great and they have aromatherapy benefits too.

Once you have poured your melted soap into your mold, carefully place your small rubber bath toy into the soap. Push down a little to make sure your bath toy is down in the soap. It’s great if your bath toy is thin enough to touch the bottom of your mold that way the toy will stay in the soap after multiple uses. If your toy is just sitting on the surface, it will probably come loose after your child’s first bath.

Let your soap dry for about an hour (for quicker drying time, place in freezer for around 30 minutes). Once your soap is set, gently pull it out of your mold and it’s ready to use!

Conclusion

The process of making soap involves different textures, smells, and colors, which can be a fun and stimulating sensory experience for kids. Soap-making can teach kids valuable life skills such as following instructions, measuring ingredients, and practicing patience. I’ve made soaps before with glitter in them but these are adorable. Silicone molds are relatively new but they would be great for this; since they can take the hot liquid. These would make great gifts or even a project to do at a kids party. Sharing now.

These are adorable and would be so much fun to make and use. I think the little toy would make them easier for little hands to grip, too. Thanks for a fun craft idea! Pinning!

How cute to add little accessories on top! Late last night I actually ordered up some melting soap so that we can make our own this summer. Glycerine will be much more kind to my son’s irritated skin, and we’ll be able to add bits to it to make it more fun to use for him. And no doubt, my daughter will also want to use it, too!
