I believe playing with LEGOs is one of many fun creative activities for children. My daughter and my son love LEGOs but for my son, LEGOs are his favorite toy ever. He loves building the sets but he can also play for hours and hours with a set in one sitting. He loves having the characters act out scenes and battle and he loves rebuilding or introducing new creations to the scenes. Anyway, when I was offered the chance to review a Lego Ninjago Masters Of Spinjitzu Dawn of Iron Doom set, you can bet I said yes but I knew how happy it would make my son. I was provided with the set to facilitate review but all opinions shared are my own.
Lego Ninjago Lego Sets: Masters Of Spinjitzu Dawn of Iron Doom Review
Summer is here and I thought a great Lego Ninjago Masters Of Spinjitzu set like Dawn of Iron Doom would help my son while away the hours. He was so excited to get it. He went straight to work building the Lego Ninjago Masters Of Spinjitzu Dawn of Iron Doom set. It came in 5 numbered bags. One bag built the prison cell which Master Wu is in. Bag 2,3, and 4 built Iron Doom. Bag 5 built the tower which attaches to the prison cell.
- Includes six minifigures: Lloyd, Jay, Acronix, Krux, Commander Blunck and Master Wu.
- Weapons include Lloyd’s two katanas, Jay’s two katanas and Commander Blunck’s Vermillion axe and Vermillion sword.
- The Snake Mech features a dual minifigure cockpit, missile-shooting eye, posable head, arms and tail. Comes with two big detachable blade weapons and spinning Time Portal with plug-in points for the four included translucent-colored Time Blades.
- The swamp fort features a Vermillion egg, egg-drop function, an opening prison, and various decorative elements including a Vermillion flag, swamp reeds and snakes.
- Accessory elements include Acronix and Krux’s Time Twin hoods and capes, Commander Blunck’s Vermillion helmet, plus six red snake elements.
Recreate Scenes From The NINJAGO®: Masters of Spinjitzu TV Show Series
Leo loves to recreate and role-play scenes from the NINJAGO®: Masters of Spinjitzu TV show. My son’s favorite thing about the set is that the tail and arms of the Iron Doom can move around to hit stuff. He likes how it comes with the speed boat and how Jay and Lloyd have sword carriers on their backs. The time blades and the prison cell are removable from their structures. He also likes how Crux and Acronix come with separate hair so they don’t always have to wear their masks. The egg is cool because when you drop the egg it will break open and release the snakes. He loves Lloyd and Jay so he really enjoys this set.
Leo also likes to play with it in conjunction with his other other Lego Ninjago Masters Of Spinjitzu sets. He has had hours and hours of fun with it already. You can shop for LEGO sets in your local stores or at shop.lego.com The only draw back is that he likes it so much, he was inspired to start on his Christmas List (and place 4 more Ninjago Masters Of Spinjitzu sets on it)!
A Note About LEGO Sets And Creativity:
I have had parents tell me before that they think that the highly specialized LEGO sets of today (verses the more generalized sets of our youth) are less creative. To that I say, that it need not be so. First of all, I love the way these specialized LEGO sets encourage children to follow directions and learn to build things themselves with a purpose in mind one step at a time. Second of all, when they have finished building the sets, and they have become broken down by play, the pieces can be used again to rebuild anything.
My son builds all kinds of creative things from our huge LEGO bin. He builds Pokemon characters. He builds Transformers and he transforms them! My daughter build fancy apartments with gold accents that she has stolen from his Ninjago sets! There is no need to limit creativity unless you are like the dad in LEGO Movie crazy gluing everything down. Many times when my son is building he will request my help finding specific pieces and honestly, I enjoy sorting through the bin helping him find what he wants and seeing what he builds and how he builds it. Enjoy following directions and the magical creations that result but also enjoy freestyle play and marvel at those creations too!
Conclusion
Lego sets offer significant value for children and adults alike, promoting creativity, problem-solving, and fine motor skills development. They encourage imaginative play and storytelling, which can enhance cognitive and social-emotional growth. Building with Legos can also improve spatial awareness, mathematical thinking, and engineering concepts through hands-on learning. For adults, Legos provide a form of stress relief and a means to connect with their inner child. Collectible Lego sets can appreciate in value, making them a potential investment. Overall, Lego sets are a versatile and enduring tool for learning, entertainment, and bonding across generations.
