Sore throat? I understand. It seems to be my weak spot and just about every time I get sick, I get a sore throat. That dry, scratchy, itchy, uncomfortable feeling in my throat drives me to look for throat pain relief. Here are a few ideas for how to get rid of a sore throat fast want. I usually use all 5 because the more I can speed the throat pain relief up, the better!

This post is sponsored by Pine Bros, makers of effective, delicious, and natural Softish Throat Drops. All opinions expressed are my own.

Sore Throat Warning-
I am not a health care professonal. Nothing contained here is intended to be used for medical diagnosis or treatment. Consult with a physician about any medical concerns. If sore throat is severe, persists for more than 2 days, is accompanied by fever, nausea, swelling, rash, headache, or vomiting, consult a doctor promptly.

5 Steps For How To Get Rid Of A Sore Throat Naturally And Quickly

ideas for natural throat relief

1. Gargle With Salt Water

This is one my mom always had me do growing up. Dissolve 1-2 teaspoons of salt in 1/2 cup of very warm water. Then just gargle for as long as you can and then spit. Repeat until your salt water is gone. I know it tastes nasty but my mom assures me it helps. I even checked online to see if there was any science to back up my mom’s strange remedy and low and behold- there is. It seems the salt water helps loosen bacteria and get rid of mucus.

2. Warm Tea With Honey

The warmth of tea helps soothe your throat and it also helps you stay hydrated which is especially important when you are sick. Many teas have added benefits as well. Herbal teas such as peppermint are thought to open your sinuses and black and green teas have antioxidants which are thought to boost your immune system. The honey makes it taste good and it has antibacterial properties of its own.

3. Sleep

When possible, sleep is the best way to speed the healing process along and to forget about your throat pain for awhile. Sleeping will keep you from talking and allow you rest your voice as well as being an important part of your body’s ability to fight infection.

4. Natural Throat Drops

I opt for sore throat drops because they are so convenient and effective. Pine Bros has been making natural throat relief since 1870. Mr. Pine, a former German confectionery maker, combined the soothing natural qualities of plant glycerin with the healing properties of gum acacia into one softish drop that provides throat pain relief. I love the Pine Bros natural throat drops because they taste great and they offer natural relief.

They are widely known as America’s original throat drop and their unique “softishness” make them extra fun! I don’t really like hard candies because I just don’t want to have to suck on something for a long time. I really enjoy the softish nature of the Pine Bros throat drops- almost like a gummy but harder. They come in 4 great flavors but my absolute favorite is Wild Cherry. It tastes so good, plus I love that it is colored with Elderberry Concentrate since that is also great for supporting your immune system.

The Pine Bros natural throat relief drops come in value bags and very handy plastic puck containers (which fit into your purse nicely). You can find Pine Bros Bros. at CVS, Rite Aid, Safeway, Kroger, Walgreens, Walmart and other local drugstores and supermarkets. You can also order them online at pinebros.com and follow them on Facebook or Twitter

5.  Sore Throat Spray

I also find it useful to whip up this recipe for home remedy sore throat spray.  The essential oils in the recipe help combat the germs and speed the healing process along.

Have you tried any of these ways for how to get rid of a sore throat fast?  Which ones work best for you?

I confess I have NOT tried the others at all. The recipe has NOT changed in 140 years! I am so happy someone brought these back. Now I have grandkids who insist on only these cough drops when they need some.
