I have received so many compliments on these simple washer wreath ornaments and will share a step by step tutorial here.
Manly Christmas Ornaments
My husband, Keith, and I have a Christmas gift giving tradition. Every Christmas Eve we exchange ornaments. Now, they’re not ALWAYS handmade, but almost all of our favorites are. It’s been a great tradition, and it’s helped us build a memorable, meaningful set of decorations for the tree.
Ornaments for guys can be tough, especially handmade ones. Just cutesy or pretty never really seems very manly.
Keith is an auto mechanic, so I went hunting around the shop one day trying to think of something mechanic-related I could make. This washers Christmas tree ornament ended up being perfect. It’s super cheap, took very few materials, the only tool I needed was super glue, and came out really unique looking. If you are searching for mechanic gifts, this personalized ornament is sure to be a hit.
Mechanic’s Metal Washers Christmas Ornament Tutorial
These metal Christmas ornaments would be a great project with or without kids. Though I think they are manly Christmas decorations, I also think they would make a great gift for a pretty wide variety of people.
Metal Washers Christmas Ornament Materials:
All you need is: Washers, (two sizes, one slightly smaller), how many depends on how big the end product is. I used eight or nine of each (I made a few).
How To Make A Metal Washers Christmas Ornament Wreath:
Lay the large washers down with space in-between each for the smaller ones.
Then arrange the smaller ones on top, overlapping. Do this without glue at first so you can make small adjustments to the spacing until you like how it looks. Then lift each small washer, apply super glue and lay it back down.
Wait until it dries completely.
Then decorate! My favorite was this, a simple green ribbon woven through (the ends simply super glued on the back), with a red bow and a matching red ribbon for hanging.
But you could use stickers, glitter, almost anything to decorate these washer Christmas ornaments if you wanted to get crazy!
End product: A beautiful Christmas ornament that is unique, manly and looks great on any Christmas tree. A perfect gift for men. Speaking of which, if you have a good mechanic, one of these hanging ornaments is a fun way to remember them during the holiday season.
