The fall equinox is almost here and one thing I enjoy about the fall is the chance to feel the crisp cool air outside but then come inside and get cozy and warm. I love a nice warm breakfast on fall mornings after you cross the cold hardwood floors. A warm oatmeal breakfast is full of dietary fiber and sticks with you so you don’t get mid morning cravings. There are so many oatmeal combinations to dress up a bowl of oatmeal to add some crunch, some flavor pops, and some color. Here are three oatmeal breakfast recipes to get you initiated into the world of oatmeal lover foodies. I have also made a list of oatmeal toppings so you can pick and chose your favorite ideas to customize the perfect bowl of oatmeal for you.

3 oatmeal breakfast recipes

This post is sponsored by Sahale Snacks but all opinions expressed are my own as are these oatmeal breakfast recipes. Sahale Snacks are known for great tasting, nutritious and adventurous snacks made up of nuts, fruits, and other fabulous ingredients like honey, balsamic vinegar, or pure ground Madagascar vanilla beans. I love the Sahale Snack flavor combos and I thought they would be the perfect way to bring a boring bowl of oatmeal up to a beyond ordinary breakfast.

3 Breakfast Recipes For Amazing Oatmeal Combinations

oatmeal bowls recipes

For the these oatmeal for breakfast recipes, you will use cooked oatmeal as your base and then add flavorful toppings to make it even more nutritious and tasty.

Basic Oatmeal Breakfast Recipe

1/2 cup of old-fashioned whole grain oats
1 cup of water
1 serving

For these recipes I will assume you are using an old-fashioned oats (quick oats, rolled oats) as opposed to an instant oatmeal. It stays with you longer and tastes better. You will bring your water (and pinch of salt) to a boil and then add oats and stir. Turn down to a simmer over low heat for 5 minutes. Stir occasionally. Serve the plain oatmeal as is or use as the base level for the following oatmeal breakfast recipes. If you prefer steel-cut oats, just follow the recipe on the steel cut oats package you are using.

Prepare your oatmeal as directed above and serve your bowl. Then add your toppings. You can get all creative and cute and do a swirl and divide the bowl into quadrants or just pile them on. Then pour your milk over the top and chow down.
