San Antonio Comfort Suites Alamo River Walk Review

I love to see new places and do new things.  That is why I love to travel so much.  When I heard that I could review a stay at a Choice Hotels property I talked it over with my husband and we decided to go see San Antonio as a parents only getaway while we were visiting his family in Texas. I was provided with a stay at the Comfort Suites Alamo River Walk in order to facilitate this review.

Great Location

First, I went to ChoiceHotels.com to find San Antonio hotels. Choice Hotels celebrates its 75th anniversary this year and is one of the world’s largest hotel companies so they had 35 hotels in the San Antonio area to choose from.  I chose to review the Comfort Suites Alamo River Walk location.  I booked it online myself and chose a King Bed, City View, Suite, (No Smoking).

When we arrived at Comfort Suites Alamo/River Walk location, I went inside and checked it.  I was immediately impressed with the luxurious lounge area, business area (with computers and printers), and gathering area where guest enjoy a FREE wine & cheese reception every Tues – Thurs! Everything was very clean and the staff were all super friendly. We put our parking tag on our car and parked in the covered lot.

Nice Guest Rooms

We found our way to our room and I was very pleased. It was tastefully decorated and up to date in decor, furnishings, and amenities. I could see the Tower of the Americas right from our window! I could also look down at the pool and hot tub! I liked that the nice big king bed had plenty of pillows and they had soft and hard pillows so you could find the right comfort for you. They also had a desk for doing your business and free wireless high speed internet. Score! The sitting area was comfy and they had all the comforts of a fridge and coffee maker. The bathroom was tasteful and roomy and they provided shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap, mouthwash, shower cap, and hair dryer.

We were very comfortable during our stay. I also liked that they had green options. For example you can leave a little stand on the bed letting the maid know that they can just make the bed without replacing the sheets. You can leave your towels hanging if you don’t need new ones. That type of thing goes a long way to save water and energy.

The Comfort Suites Alamo/River Walk had a nice workout space with machines and weights as well as pretty pool and hot tub though there was so much in city to explore that we barely had time to use it! The river walk was lovely and of course we saw the Alamo and the San Fernando cathedral. We also visited the McNay Art Museum and the Botanical Gardens. We tried lots of good Mexican food (Rosario’s Restaurant was my favorite) and enjoyed some live music at Pat O’Briens.

Complimentary Breakfast Buffet

We also enjoyed the free hot breakfast buffet with tons of options ranging from good eggs, sausage, and home fries, to waffles, fruit, and yogurt.

I really enjoyed our stay at the Comfort Suites Alamo/River Walk and would certainly recommend it as a great San Antonio hotel and I would be happy to stay there again any time! You can check out more details or book a stay at Comfort Suites Alamo.

Enjoy your travels!

Very nice looking hotel. I have stayed at the Marriott on the Riverwalk, the one attached to the mall. It was nice as well.
