Looking for fun activities? We know the feeling. Now that the cold winter weather has officially arrived, kids will be spending more time indoors and will be needing new things to do! I don’t know about your kids,  but my kids love crafting and creating new things when they are stuck inside. Today we made this really fun Snowflake Cup Ball Toss Game and it has been a big success. I consider anything that gets played with for over 20-30 minutes a huge hit in our house! And the best part was, we had everything that we needed for this carnival style game on hand and you probably do to.

Snowflake Cup Ball Toss Carnival Game Style DIY Tutorial

Making your own ball toss game can be a fun, creative, and rewarding project for several reasons. DIY games often cost less than store-bought alternatives, allowing you to save money while providing hours of entertainment for kids and adults alike. You can design the game to suit your preferences, theme, or skill level. In addition, making the game together can be a fun family activity that strengthens relationships and provides a sense of accomplishment.

Furthermore, building a ball toss game is a great hands-on project that can teach kids and adults about:

  • Fine motor skills and coordination during gameplay.
  • Measurement and planning.
  • Problem-solving and creativity.

Craft Supplies Needed For The Homemade Ball Tossing Game:

  • White Paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Pencil
  • Plastic Cups (we happened to have blue ones which look really fun)
  • Lightweight small balls, such as a ping pong ball or small wiffle ball

How To Make a Snowflake Game For Kids:

Firstly, grab your supplies and spread out! The kids will definitely be able to help create this game with you.

Secondly, grab your paper and your pencil. Sketch out a snowflake. If you prefer, you could always print a snowflake template to use as your guide. After you have sketched a snowflake out, layer several pieces of paper under the top sheet. This will prevent you from having to cut one out at a time!

Thirdly, go ahead and cut the snowflakes out of the white paper.

Finally, after you have cut the snowflakes out, get you child to help you tape one snowflake on each cup. We had about 10 cups so we cut out 10 snowflakes. When you and your child are done taping, it’s time to set up your game!

How To Set Up For Ball Toss Games

We turned over a few cups and laid them down on the table to create a base layer for our game.

Next, we put a piece of tape on the bottom of several cups and placed them right side up on the base layer. Putting tape on the bottom will help them from falling over when they get hit with a ball.

How To Play Cup Toss Game

The idea here is that this snowflakes game is modeled after a ball toss carnival game. You can play this game one of two ways.

After you have the cups lined up, your child is ready to play. The cups can be placed on the floor or on a table. Grab a soft ball (we have several balls around the house so we grabbed a light weight plastic ball) and try to toss the ball into the cups! You can make it challenging by backing up a little farther from the cups each round!

Or instead of taping the cups down and trying to land the ball in the cups, you can throw to knock down the cups. The point of this game is to see how many cups you can knock down in 3 throws to win a prize or beat your competitors.

Conclusion

This is a fun game for all ages really. It is sure to be success for those that enjoy carnival games. The whole family can join in the fun from toddlers who want to throw from up close to older kids and adults who can throw from afar. Not only is it fun but it is also a great way to further hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills. It can be played indoors or if the whether is nice enough it makes a great backyard game too. It is a great game for family reunions.

You can adapt the game for different ages and skill levels by adjusting size and difficulty. This DIY Game may just become a favorite game! What kind of indoor activities are you planning for this winter? Do you think your child would like this snowflake cup ball toss game? Share your pics on social media @familyfocusblog and @roo615.
