Enchanting Winter Candle Holders Centerpiece Tutorial

Looking for an elegant candle decor idea? You will love this fun project for DIY Winter Candle Holders with Glass Charm. They make great Christmas decorations.

Candle holders make excellent centerpieces because they combine functionality with aesthetic appeal. They add height, texture, and style to a table, turning a simple candle into a striking decorative piece. These DIY candle holders can be tailored to fit any theme—rustic, modern, elegant, or seasonal. Furthermore, candle holders can amplify or diffuse the candlelight, creating a warm, inviting glow that enhances the atmosphere.

Craft Supplies For DIY Candle Holders:

  • Glue gun
  • Cardboard
  • Sharpie/pen
  • Felt
  • 2 glass hurricane candle holders
  • Figurines
  • Faux trees with snow
  • Snow cover (fabric)
  • 2 candles (will work for pillar candles, encased tea lights, or votive candles)

So, in the craft materials list, I call for “hurricane candle holders”. This really just means a tall glass cylinder that helps to protect the flame of the candle. In this design, I flip the clear glass hurricane vase candle holders over to create a candle pedestal and I use the cylinder to house a cute Dickens Christmas type of scene. These DIY glass candle holders are the perfect winter candle holders for the holiday season. You could use plain glass jars equally well. Mason jars would have the brand on the side and probably be too distracting from the winter scene inside. You could even use large wine glasses and flip them upside down for a raised candle holder effect.

Types Of Candles

Pillar Candles: Come in a range of heights and diameters, making them versatile for different decor styles. Height typically range from 3 to 12 inches. Diameter commonly ranges from 2 to 6 inches.

Votive Candles: Taller and cylindrical, typically about 2-3 inches in height.

Tea Lights: Small and flat, usually encased in a thin metal or plastic cup, about 1 inch tall.

How To Make Glass-Encased Winter Decor Candle Holders :

Follow these simple steps for “Upside-Down Elegance: DIY Winter Candle Holders with Glass Charm”.

  1. To begin your glass candle holder decorations, flip the glass candle holder hurricane over and onto the cardboard. The opening where you would normally place the candle into should be on top of the cardboard.
  2. Trace around the opening of the candle holder onto the cardboard. Make two of these for both candle holders.

3.Cut out circles you just traced.

4. Use that shape to trace and cut out a piece of felt.

5. Once you have done that glue the felt to one of the sides. This felt is going to be for the bottom of the winter candle decor.

6. Now get your snow cover and using the cardboard shape trace and cut out two pieces. This fabric can be thin so we will need more than one piece.

7. Glue one of these pieces down. Make sure the edges of the cardboard are covered. Do not worry if your shapes are not exact. If you have excess you can cut it off or leave it on.

8. Now glue your next layer of snow cover. I glued mine in 4 spots equal distance from each other. I did this so I could create lumps and texture on the ground of the winter scene.

9. Next, place the figurines and trees. You do not have to glue these down.

10. Once your scene is ready, place the candle holder, topside down, over the scene.

Important Note About These Candle Centerpiece Ideas:

This candle holder idea is not intended for use with taper candles AKA candlesticks. They will drop wax and burn down right off the edges. Be sure to use proper candle safety and do not leave candles burning if you are not in the room to keep an eye on them. They could melt down and become a fire hazard.

When winter is over, you can customize the candle holder to match the season or upcoming holiday by updating the interior decorations to hearts or easter eggs, etc. Candles can be changed out to colors or patterns for the any holiday to make the perfect holiday candle centerpiece.

And that is how you decorate glass candle holders to turn them from plain Jane to super cute!

Conclusion

Incorporating candle centerpieces into your decor adds warmth, elegance, and a personal touch to any setting. Whether you prefer simple, rustic arrangements or intricate, seasonal displays, there’s a design to suit every occasion and style. These versatile pieces not only create a cozy ambiance but also serve as stunning focal points for your gatherings. With a little creativity and inspiration, your candle centerpieces can light up your space and leave a lasting impression on your guests.

These are really pretty votive candle holders! What a great way to use glass holders for decorative purposes. I think I will go to the thrift store as an inexpensive way to source my glass hurricanes.
