Everyone loves treehouses, right?  A simple tree house design can create a whole new world that will let a child’s imagination run free.  Well, here are some World Renowned Treehouses that will totally amaze you and capture even an adult’s imagination.  I’m talking about the famous treehouses built by Treehouse Masters, Pete Nelson, who has for 25 years traveled across the globe, creating the most environmentally sustainable, architecturally unique and whimsical treehouses in the world.  All photos I share in this post of the Treehouse Masters cool treehouses are credited to Pete Nelson and Nelson Treehouse and Supply.

World Renowned, Super Cool Treehouses

Nelson’s treehouses are designed to accentuate the beauty of the trees themselves. Nelson sees his creations as an enhancement to the natural landscape he chooses to build upon rather than as an intrusion. As a cross between an architect, a custom shipwright, builder/craftsman AND a tree lover, Nelson can’t stand the thought of clearing out property for a guest house or vacation home, so he helps clients perch these properties in trees.

From building houses in the treetops of Japan to constructing around the majestic redwoods in Northern California, Nelson and his team work within the natural landscape of properties to create a world renowned treehouse design that is unique and whimsical, yet practical and sustainable. Often equipped with running water and electricity, these arboreal retreats provide plenty of space and comfort for the clients, their children, and friends. These treehouse ideas for adults will blow your mind!

This summer, Nelson and his company, Nelson Treehouse and Supply, (http://www.nelsontreehousesupply.com) are busier than ever. Nelson and his team (which includes his son Charlie and his wife, Judy) are subject of the new Animal Planet series “Treehouse Masters”  which plays Fridays at 10pm. The Treehouse Masters tv show takes viewers behind the scenes with Nelson and his craftsmen as they work to create the ultimate dream treehouse for their clientele. Each episode tells the story of a single, unique treehouse, and its evolution through the design and build process, and ultimately the treehouse’s reveal to satisfied, stunned clients.

Pete Nelson was kind enough to answer a few exclusive questions for me.  I was curious about his background and how he became a designer and builder of world renowned treehouses.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be an architect.

I’d love to know about your first experience with a treehouse.

I must have been about seven when my dad helped build my first treehouse.  I remember it like it was yesterday.  It was in our back yard in Ridgewood, NJ in a three-stemed maple tree.  It seemed like it was 20 feet up. However, I bet it was only about 8 feet off the ground.  It may have been tiny but it was all my own.

What was the first treehouse you built like?

The first treehouse I built on my own was in the front yard of the same house in NJ.  It was my look out.  Small, but strong.  No roof.  My sister climbed up and immediately spotted a truly remarkable WWII artifact hidden in the pachysandra below.  It was an unexploded 30 lb fin-tailed bomb!  The bomb squad came out and took it away!  It was a BIG DEAL!  And I wasn’t even the one to find it!

Did you ever have any idea that you would be a treehouse master as a job?

Not in a million years!

Conclusion

Awesome, huh?  I hope this post got you dreaming again!  Information for this post on Treehouse Masters cool treehouses was provided by Platform Media Group in the hopes that I would find it interesting and share it.  I found it fascinating and I hope you did too!  I did not receive monetary compensation and the opinions expressed are my own.
