Icebreaker New Zealand Merino Wool Clothing Review and Giveaway
I am about to introduce you to something may may change the way you think. Sounds dramatic doesn’t it? But honestly, Icebreaker New Zealand Merino Wool Clothing is totally different from any wool that I had ever experienced. I am talking about a wool so soft you can wear it as underwear (I tried it so I know know)! I am talking about wool you can throw in the washer! That changed the way I think!

The Icebreaker fibre factory works 24 hours a day, on the back of a sheep. Sustainability is at the heart of Icebreaker… It’s possible because nature is an astonishing designer. New Zealand produces the longest, strongest, purest, whitest merino fibre on the planet, which means it’s more durable, stays softer for longer and is less likely to pill. In cold weather, Icebreaker merino uses moisture absorbed from the environment to generate heat (a process called “heat of sorption”). Its crimped (wavy) fibres also contain millions of air pockets that lock in body heat to keep you toasty. In warm weather, Icebreaker merino keeps your skin cool by transporting moisture vapour away from the skin to be evaporated. And because Icebreaker merino breathes beautifully, moisture vapour escapes without making you feel clammy. So now you can skip the plastic synthetics!
Icebreaker offers a fun collection of clothing, accessories and socks for young adventurers and adults. I was fortunate enough to try several pieces of Icebreaker so that I can give you a pretty good idea of their variety. First, I was shocked to see merino wool underwear. I couldn’t imagine it being soft enough for that sensitive part of our bodies so I had to try it! I choose the Women’s Bikini Merino Wool underwear. “This seductively-styled fitting is low cut in the front and back, and comes in a choice of beautiful prints inspired by nature.” I can honestly say they are my favorite underwear now. They are really soft and comfortable, cute, and I haven’t gotten a single wedgey because they just fit so well!
I also wanted to try a Merino Wool women’s top so I selected the Womens LS Haven Scoop. I love the flattering fit. It is perfect for layering and can be dressed up or dressed down to suit the occasion. I also love the and subtle nature-inspired print and the beautiful shade that I chose- Vintage. The high breathability of Icebreaker merino ensures no overheating and no freezing no matter where I end up spending my day. I really liked this and it was super soft, though not as soft as the underwear.
My daughter got to test the Icebreaker Merino Wool Kids Clothing. She loves the top we selected- the girls long sleeve flutter hoody. It is even softer than the Haven Scoop I picked for myself. She wore it with nothing under it and was not in the least bit itchy. It is lightweight yet warm. This silky soft merino is truly an all-season fiber since it regulates temperature, keeping active kids cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Additionally, merino is sun-safe (UPF rating of 50+) if you happen to be skiing and fire resistant (something to think about when you’re sitting around the campfire.)
The environmentalist in me loves that merino wool is natural and sustainable. Made of renewable wool shorn from the sheep in New Zealand, kids (and adults) can even go online and trace the wool from their apparel back to the sheep farm through a
