Kids go, go, go, go, until they fall asleep! I wish I had as much energy as they do sometimes! Now that the weather is starting to warm up, my kids can spend all day playing outside. They are always active whether it is playing a sport, hiking, bouncing on the trampoline, climbing some rocks, building forts, scrambling through the forest, or playing tag. I like to be prepared for accidents with a handy dandy kit. This List Active Kids Emergency Kt is sponsored by Puracyn to help you be prepared for the cuts and scrapes kids get.
Why Have An Active Kids Emergency Kit
With all that activity and their fearless nature, my kids end up with boo-boos. Just last week, my son got his first black eye from his friend hitting him with a toy by mistake. And a few weeks ago, my daughter got a scrape on her chin when she slipped on some ice. I like to be ready for everything! That is why I have an emergency kit that I can easily bring with me hiking or to a sports game or be ready right at home.
Here is a list of a few ideas for what you may want to include in your Active Kids Emergency Kit so you can be ready for minor accidents such as cuts, scrapes, lacerations, burns and insect bites because you know when they get hurt, the first thing out their mouths is, “Mom!” and they are counting on you to make it all better.
10 Items For Your Active Kids Emergency Kit List:
Here is what is in my Active Kids Emergency Kit. I hope find these suggestions useful. Feel free to customize your Active Kids Emergency Kit to include other items that may fit your individual family needs.
1. Kold Pak
It is great to have a Kold Pak handy because it is nice to be able to get a cold compress on to fresh bumps and bangs to try to prevent or at least lessen the bruising.
2. Puracyn® Plus Duo-Care™ Wound & Skin Cleanser
This is a completely new first step in first aid. Puracyn® Plus Duo-Care™ Wound & Skin Cleanser is great for cleaning fresh wounds and is easy to apply since it comes in a spray bottle. In fact it is more effective than soap and water and less irritating than peroxide and alcohol! Puracyn® Plus Duo-Care™ Wound & Skin Cleanser is doctor-tested and safe for use virtually anywhere on the body- even the eyes, ears and mouth! Plus, it won’t sting like many other methods will! This is so great to have handy at the playground when there is no running water!
3. Bandages
It is a good idea to have an assortment of bandages on hand! From simple Band-Aids, to waterproof bandages to medium sized sterile gauze pads, to large compress dressings. You never know just what you may need.
4. Sport Wrap and/or Mueller mtape®
A Kids Sport Wrap is excellent for first aid applications like securing bandages or splints and protecting and cushioning wounds plus it is easy to wrap on and off. Mueller mtape is high quality athletic trainer’s adhesive tape that conforms well and provides firm support to ankles, wrists, and hands.
5. Tweezers
Tweezers are an easy item to overlook but they are so great for your emergency kit because, well, splinters and thorns have a way of getting into kid’s clothing, hands, arms, legs, and feet!
6. Puracyn® Plus Duo-Care™ Foot Wash & Skin Cleanser
Puracyn® Plus Duo-Care™ Foot Wash & Skin Cleanser is an advanced hypochlorous solution that is non-irritating, non-toxic, and steroid free. It is a great FIRST step in first aid for foot sores and irritations, blisters, dry and cracked feet, and rashes.
7. Sunscreen and Aloe Vera Gel
Always have some sun protection on hand! Forgetting your sunscreen is on many a mom’s guilt list. Keep it off yours! I also suggest some aloe vera gel in case you miss a spot or if your child’s skin is super fair.
8. Anti-Itch
Bug bites and stings happen! Be prepared with some anti-itch solution- we like products like OFF! FamilyCare Bite & Itch Relief (I am an SC Johnson panel blogger), Band-Aid Anti-Itch Gel, Benadryl, Calamine, and/or lavender essential oil.
9. Snacks
It is always good to have some snacks in your Mary Poppins bag. Feed those little monsters and they turn into angels again. Seriously, keeping blood sugar up is important!
10. Water
We all know that drinking water is essential to life and staying hydrated on a hot sunny day is a lot easier with some water handy! You may also want to keep a couple packets of DripDrop handy for addressing more serious dehydration.
I hope these 10 items help keep the little accidents that happen from turning into something worse. What do you keep in your active kids emergency kit?
