A fort kit for your living room will help your kids develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. At the same time a fort-building kit will encourage imaginative play and offer endless possibilities for your child’s playtime fun. This post is sponsored by a new educational toy company called Fort Boards. They make building sets for kids. This fort building set is unlike any I have ever seen before. While they come in a small storage box, the Fort Boards are premium plastic large squares (8 inches by 8 inches) so they build amazing large creations- from a pirate ship to a castle. They are the perfect indoor fort building kits kids will love!
Building Sets For Kids
While there are lots of popular building sets for kids, Fort Boards really are unusual in that they let kids build on a grand scale. And the best part is even though the kid’s building creations are big, they are not bulky. Because the Fort Boards are pretty flat, the “building blocks” themselves don’t take up much room while assembled. Their compact design is also perfect when laid flat for storage. The Fort Boards are plastic squares so while they are the perfect indoor fort building kits, kids can also enjoy playing with them outdoors on your deck or other flat surfaces. My kids have so much fun building. The fort of your dreams possible for everyone to achieve through different configurations.
Fort Boards kids fort building kits are aimed at ages 5 and up for self play. This fort builder kit contains an included building guide to help give your children fun ideas for their own play space. You can even add cardboard panels in various designs to complete the look of your incredible forts. You can even combine a couple of construction fort building kits for big forts and even larger building fun! The Fort Boards are available in 3 different colors. Kids up to about 12 will have fun with these too. Building with creator kits is always fun for all ages! The whole family can get into it an activity even. Then leave the actual play up to the kids once it is built!
Ages 3-5 will love to play with Fort Boards too but they will need some parental building help and guidance. What better excuse to play with your kids?
How Do Fort Boards Work And What Can They Build?
This short video shows you how they fit together and a sampling of what they can build:
Use the included building guide to get started. Fort Boards come with interlocking edges so they can easily make a wall and they also have connectors that can be used to strengthen corners and help hold the 3D shape of the fort. This really is an unusual construction toy because it lets kids build creations they can get inside of! Each of the Fort Boards building sets for kids comes with 20 square feet of fort building surface. Kids can build all kind of things from castle forts to a rocket ship to airplanes to submarines to vehicles and more. So you see Fort Boards are kids fort building kits and beyond!
Kids Fort Building Kits: Fort Boards Review
When we unloaded the Fort Boards box, it came with 44 boards and 46 connectors. I love how they stacked up so compactly so that when they are done playing, it will be easy to keep the toy room tidy.
My kids are 9 and 11 and they went right to work building intuitively without even reading the instructions. At first they build together which was a lot of fun to watch. I love it when they play nicely together. Then they took turns taking about the fort and reassembling it as they each tried to build the best castle. This lasted for several days since they each wanted to outdo the other’s creation. Then they moved on to new shapes and creations, the latest being a boat!
We also received a box of Fort Boards Design Cards. These nifty cards came in three designs- wood, stone, and metal. There are 44 cards to cover the 44 boards (they just slip in easily). The back of each card is blank so that your creative, crafty child can come up with their own design if they like. My kids loved using these to complete their castle fort look. I can’t wait to see what they design themselves!
