Kings Hawaiian Sliders Are Perfect For Parties
This time of year, when it is cold outside, everyone loves a nice warm snack or meal. I designed this warm sliders recipe so it would be easy enough to throw together in a flash but still taste delicious. I decided I wanted a version of a sliders recipe with ham and cheese. So I went with Canadian Bacon and Smoked Gouda Cheese. Then, I added Caramelized Onion Slices to really make the flavors pop. These Hawaiian roll sliders are husband and kid-tested and all approved!
I am using the term “sliders” here to refer to little sandwiches on buns. I used the King’s Hawaiian “Original Hawaiian Sweet 12 Pack Dinner Rolls” for buns because they are so soft and sweet. They are the perfect size for sliders. Plus, my son says they are his favorite rolls ever! Canadian bacon is a leaner bacon. It is almost like a super thick slice of ham. This Canadian bacon recipe is sure to make you a convert.
Easy Sliders Recipe: Canadian Bacon, Smoked Gouda, and Caramelized Onion With Hawaiian Rolls
These sliders are yummy, delicious, goodness! Plus, this sliders recipe is super easy and fast to whip up for parties (or even for a quick delicious lunch or dinner!)
makes 12 sliders
Slider Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 24 slices of Canadian bacon
- 3 small yellow onions
- 1 package of sliced smoked gouda
- 1 package of King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet 12 Pack Dinner Rolls
How To Make Ham And Cheese Sliders:
First things first. Peel onions and slice them up into thick onion rings about 1/4-1/3 of an inch thick. Keep the rings in tact. (You don’t have to but it is pretty that way!) You need 12 onion rings to make 12 sliders.
In a large skillet over medium high heat, put down a pat of butter. Coat the bottom of the pan evenly by pushing it around with your spatula. Place onion rings into the pan. After a minute or two, go ahead and flip the onions (should see a bit of color on the onions). Allow to cook on the second side for another one to two minutes. Then turn heat down to medium and cook for about 5 minutes on each side until becoming translucent and browned. Then remove from heat.
While the onions are cooking, you can slice your King’s Hawaiian Dinner Rolls in half. They will become slider buns. Cut your smoked gouda cheese slices into perfect sized pieces for your buns.
Then go ahead and use a pat of butter to warm up the Canadian bacon in a skillet. Remove from heat once warm and browned a bit. Now use another pat of butter to warm and brown the insides of the King’s Hawaiian Dinner Rolls.
Assemble your sliders- bottom of the King’s Hawaiian roll, 2 slices of Canadian bacon, 1 slice of smoked gouda cheese, 1 caramelized onion ring, top of the roll. Now they are all set and ready to eat. Serve these Canadian Bacon sliders warm, and enjoy!
I love the saltiness of the Canadian bacon with the sweetness of the roll and caramelized onion. The smokiness of the smoked gouda is delightful. Good stuff!
