My husband and I love to travel with our children and show them new places! In fact, we just got back from a huge Southwest Road Trip where we spent 3 weeks exploring with our kids. When traveling with kids and pets, an excursion like that requires a lot of careful planning. First up on the list was finding hotels that are both family friendly (must have pool) and pet friendly (must accept German Shepherds). When we planned our Albuquerque stop, we wanted a hotel that was convenient to downtown as well as being family and pet friendly and we selected Home2 Suites By Hilton. They were kind enough to provide me with a room to facilitate this Home2 Suites By Hilton Albuquerque Review.
Home2 Suites By Hilton: Family And Pet Friendly Hotel In Albuquerque, NM
First, I will just go ahead and give you a spoiler alert but I loved the Home2 Suites By Hilton. I will certainly book it again when we go back to Albuquerque.
Home2 Suites by Hilton Albuquerque/Downtown-University location is just five minutes from downtown Albuquerque and within walking distance of the University of New Mexico. It is situated where I-25 and I-40 meet, making it easy to get where ever you may want to go and it is only six miles from Albuquerque International Airport. There is a large parking lot and a great view of the Sandia Mountains. Oh and be on the lookout for roadrunners. I saw them two times in the parking lot when walking my dog!
Family Friendly Albuquerque Hotel Features
Wow. There was tons of space and my family of 4 plus a dog didn’t feel at all crowded in a one-bedroom suite. There was a kitchenette attached to a large living area that included a dining space, a tv and sofa space, and a desk space and then there was a wall that separated the bedroom which was also huge and had two queen beds. The kids could watch TV in the living room while my husband and I took a nap or I could get up early and work in a the living room while they all slept. It really did feel like a home away from home.
This was a super nice feature that I was very impressed with. They had a full size fridge, range, and dishwasher. They also provided you with all the basic kitchen items you could want. I must say that we under utilized this awesome kitchenette because Albuquerque has so many great restaurants we just had to try. However, we did make use of having glasses on hand for everyone and bowls for chips and salsa. I loved the dining area for having everyone sit down for snack time together.
There was a TV in the living room and one in the bedroom so if the kids want to watch a cartoon while the parents watch a drama- no problem!
Free Breakfast Bar

Got them mid jump! They just taught me how to play the "silence" pool game. Fun times! Thanks to @home2suites for providing me with a stay so I can share my review with y'all. (Coming to #familyfocusblog soon.) I absolutely love how their #heatedpool is actually warm!#travelwithkids #home2suites #jumpin #poolgames #albuquerquenewmexico
Our all time favorite of the leisure amenities at this extended-stay hotel in Albuquerque, NM is the sparkling indoor pool which was heated and really enjoyable.
When traveling with kids, you just never know when you might need to do a quick load for any number of random reasons. Home2 Suites by Hilton has you covered with some pay laundry machines right off the fitness center.
Yup, that is right. They have a game room and you check out video games or board games at the reception desk! You can challenge the family to one of the games in the entertainment game room which is a very inviting space.
Extra amenities that aren’t family oriented but still super handy:
Hold a small event for up to 10 people in their boardroom.
Print documents in the free 24-hour business center.
Work out in the fitness center.
Recycling receptacles in room and hallways.
Bedside USB chargers and plenty of plugin spots around the suite.
Here is the deal on pets at the hotel-
No more than two (2) pets per suite and size does matter, check local hotel website for pet fee and size limits. Pet fee is additional. Your pet will have the run of your suite (which is super nice because some hotels say no dogs on furniture). The only places your pet can’t go are the pool and the breakfast area.
Plus, the staff was so nice and everything was super clean. As I said, I loved Home2 Suites By Hilton Albuquerque, NM location. You can find out or more or book it at the Homes2 Suites By Hilton website.
I hope you enjoy your travels and your stay. Let me know how you like this pet friendly hotel in Albuquerque, NM and/or your favorite things to do in Albuquerque! Check my southwest road trip itinerary for places to eat while you are there!
